Shadow story or Pokemon Master story? I'll choose the shadow story any day.
And the sales of Pokemon games was helped by the fact that 90% of the handheld games are multiple versions of each other. I'm one of the unlucky people who was fooled into buying all three versions of the original game and the GS game.
"What if like...there was an exact copy of you somewhere, except they're the opposite gender, like you guys could literally have a freaky friday moment and nothing would change. Imagine the best friendship that could be found there."
Hopefully Pokemon Diamond and Pearl will take advantage of the DS' Wi-Fi capabilities and make it possible to trade/battle online with others. That aspect alone would be great.
It would be even more great if Diamond and Pear were one version.

I gave up on Pokemon when the GBA games turned out to be pretty much the same as the earlier ones. With the absolute minimum of graphical and gameplay additions. I figured with the more powerful system would mean a very different, much improved game. Obviously not.
Well, the shadow story doesn't sound bad, but it's the fact that you have to catch them from other people.
Making a walk around in grass and finding them would be cooler IMO, but the traditional "I wanna become a master, but i don't know what the heck a trainer is or anything" is getting pretty old.
I haven't gave up on Pokemon yet, but I'm getting there.
*calls nintendo*
