improving a controller's functionality is fine. How many times did Sony do it with the PS1, twice? yeah, dual analog, dualshock. nobody complained. Sega did it once for the genesis and twice for the saturn. Sony has done it once so far with the PS3. this is perfectly fine.
everyone has complained about how hard it is to do 1:1 motion on the Wii (despite nintendo doing it fine in wii sports baseball), and this will make it easier for them to do it.
I can see it both ways. Kudos to Nintendo for re-evaluating their product and improving what could be improved, but it's something that ideally would've been ironed out in the first place. It's not really like analog or rumble with the PS1 controllers because this is improving (correcting?) a pre-existing feature. I'm more upset that they won't be releasing all Wii remotes hereon out with the improved tech and instead leaving it as an optional buy. Also, will this add-on improve games made before its release, or will Wii games have to be specially made compatible with it?
well, we're assuming here that nintendo was venturing into mostly uncharted territory when they started work on the wiimote, and they did what the technology would let them do at the time while still being mostly cost effective.
and it didn't necessarily say that they wouldn't release new wiimotes with this. you know how nintendo is about re-releasing products with better stuff at a higher price.
edit: I just thought about this, but if punchout will be one of the games with this, how will it fix the retarded precision on the nunchuk?

MotionPlus is releasing June 8 for $20. Wii Sports Resort doesn't come out until the end of July so people's first chance to use the new improved Wiimote will be with 3rd party games. Virtua Tennis 09 comes out in May and EA's Tiger Woods and Grand Slam Tennis both come out mid-June.
And again, Nintendo is cleverly marketing the add-on bundled with a bunch of minigames as software as they did with Wii Play, instead of an accessory. This time, though, if Wii Sports Resort will be available by itself, it is actually semi-understandable to have it categorized as software.
I just HATEHATEHATE Wii Play for two MAJOR reasons...first, it counts as software, not as an accessory, which makes me 8% less in commission every time I sell one.
Second, and I know I'm beating a dead horse with this one, but is there ANY legitimate reason Wii Play has been in the top ten on the software sales charts ever since it came out, besides that standalone Wiimotes were a lot harder to come across than the Wii Play bundle, which is everywhere, and that people think they're getting a value by getting another 9 games for only an extra ten dollars, without realizing that, from what I've heard, none of the nine come anywhere close to anything in Wii Sports? Meaning, most people will play each game once or twice, and never play it again.
