    Everquest Online Adventures

According to PSM, EQOA still has 30,000 regular users. Which is a surprise, considering they haven't released any "expansion pak", aside from Frontiers, but that was released back in November of 2003. But since WoW is a bust (grr, stupid computer; I'm so glad consoles generally don't need upgrades), I'm kinda interested in getting into it again, since I found it fun back when I played it before my PS2's started DREading, causing me to cancel my account. Anybody else playing it? I'm quite curious what they do in terms of updates since they haven't released an expansion in so long.

I play it. It's definitely not the best mmo out there but it's fun and it's the only one I can play so I enjoy it. As I understand for a very long time there were no updates but after EQ2 came out they put a new staff on the game and there have been lots of updates, quests and tweaks since. They're in the process of adding new high level epic quests and some such. I don't really know. You can go to the EQOA forums to find out more.

Yeah, like this PC would be able to run that. Besides, isn't death pretty harshe in the PC EverQuests?

If you're gonna play a MMO on a console, I would advise, and hope, that you choose FFXI over EQOA.

That is if you want to spend days apon days getting one level, not to mention hours looking for a party. EQOA is a lot better community not plaqued with puberty hitting teens wanting to masturbate to hairy beasts.

It depends on your taste. If you want familiar territory, know others who play and don't mind fighting quite a bit to level up, get FFXI. If you want a very savy community, D&D-style races and such, get EQ. Read up on the games' features and pick whichever you want.

I've played both EQOA (not the expansion) and FFXI. I had more fun in EQOA. I liked FFXI at first, but I eventually got tired of the tediousness of it all. I made more progress during 4 months in EQOA than I did with 8 or so months in FFXI. The biggest downside to EQOA is the 2000-player limit per server (I think), which means a rather sparsly populated world. It wasn't too bad before the new continent was added, but I have to wonder what it's like now.

                      Re: Everquest Online Adventures

Although Ive been focused on RPG maker and dont really have much time for a MMORPG these days, I'd like to say that i really loved EQOA. I had origanaly played PCEQ and liked it, but then i tried EQOA and felt it was more for me. I felt like I could jump in and out of the game in smaller chucks of time and still feel like i acomplished something. IM NOT ONE THOSE PEEPS WHO CAN PLAY 12 HOURS A DAY. when they added the LFG tool a year or so ago, you rarely are waiting long for a group(unless its 3am). another aspect is that max party members in EQOA is 4, so forming a party correclty is more important (1 tank, 1 healer and 2 DDs). I havent played FF11, EQ2 or WOW, but i honestly feel like EQOA is fun. ITS THE FIRST GAME IVE EVER SEEN WITH AN ABSOLUTELY SEEMLESS WORLD, NO LOADING "ZONES" FROM ONE AREA TO THE NEXT. seriously, your char can run for what seems like forever in any direction(barring getting killed or running into the occasional mountain.) I still keep my chars alive (by subscribing once every 90 days they dont delete chars) so that maybe ill get back into it...maybe after i finish Esper Quest....uuuggg but then theres RPGM 3....Oh well...
the only other thing is im pretty sure some servers are busier than others, Im on marrs fist and it seems decently busy most of the time....

BTW its 3000 player max in EQOA

Okay, gonna get Frontiers. As soon as I figure out the best place to buy it from.

There aren't many stores that still carry it I believe and you don't want to get it used like from Ebay unless you already have an Account Key because if it's already been used you won't be able to open an account. Unless you still remember your station name and password from before. You should be able to reactivate the same account and still have your characters no matter how long it was cancelled. If you can't find it anywhere else Sony still sells the game through the Station store for $30.

Actually I called sony and they said: " your chars are garranteed 90 days after cancelling your account before they are deleted. Some people have found that their chars. are still there after 90 days. this applies to all sony online games".

They're only guaranteed for 90 days but they won't get deleted unless they need to release some space. The person I bought the game from gave me his account which he hadn't used in over a year and his characters were still on it. Since EQOA has a pretty low player population they really don't ever need to delete people's characters.
