I Beat Mega Man 4 for the first time today.

The game had eluded me so many years. I could beat 3, 5 and 6 with little or no difficulty, but Mega Man 4 took the cake. The main reason was that bosses like Dive Man (whose pattern I still can't master) and Ring Man were so damn hard. The farthest I had gotten was the boss endurance area where I had to face all 8 bosses once again. I was depleted of all energy tanks and I couldn't beat Dive Man, Ring Man,not Pharaoh Man because they pawned me severely, so I quit. This was...maybe 4 or 5 years ago. I started playing the game again last night just for the hell of it, and today, with the help of the password, I managed to get through the Wily areas successfully.

Then came boss endurance again. I depleted all of my energy tanks because of Dive Man, whom I had one more hit to destroy him at least twice, but he killed me before I could deal the final blow. With no energy tanks left and the one and a quarter stages to go, mere luck helped me defeat Wiley's first form, but the last boss...man. I had to use at least 4 continues, and I knew that Pharaoh Man's power was the only one that could beat Wiley (an energy beam would form and go at me, and it would show Wily for a brief moment, so I had to make sure to hit him precisely and dodge the beam which took a big chunk of my health. Anyway, I finally kicked his ass an hour ago, and I'm quite pleased to have conquered another Mega Man title. I still have not beaten 1, 2, 7, or the X Series.

dive man is easy. stay in a corner, after he fires his torpedos he often immediately jets across the screen, so jump. if he doesnt turn around right away, it means he's gonna do it again. so shift your jump towards him, and he'll fly right under you.

I just watched a Youtube vid of someone doing exactly what you're telling me to do. I'm so ashamed of myself.

I still never beat it.
'Cause... I never knew that Pharoah Man's weapon was the only thing that could hurt Wily. And after I figured out, I simply never played the game.

For some reason, when I was a kid, I had a really hard time finding Mega Man 4 in stores, so I didn't get to play it until a few years after I had played all the others. It was never my favorite, but I also don't think it's as bad an entry as a lot of people make it out to be.

I never beat a single Mega Man game. I suck. X4 is my favorite of the entire franchise, and I got to the final boss once.

For some reason, when I was a kid, I had a really hard time finding Mega Man 4 in stores, so I didn't get to play it until a few years after I had played all the others. It was never my favorite, but I also don't think it's as bad an entry as a lot of people make it out to be.

5 was the hardest for me to find, both for the NES and Game Boy. Lucky for me, I got it for a fair price (the NES version) on ebay. When I got it in the mail, I beat it in 2 hours. It's currently my favorite of the series, bar none.

That makes me wonder how MM9 will compare to you guys. I'd get it, if only I had a system it was going to be released for. Too bad there won't be a NDS version.

It's certainly better than 5, at least. And it's harder than most of the others, too.

i find the mega man games to be really difficult. the only one i've beaten is 2 and that's because I used "save state".

It's certainly better than 5, at least. And it's harder than most of the others, too.

Don't be hatin' on MegaMan 5. It's got some of the best level design of all the original MegaMan games.

A lot of people seem to hate 5. I never understood why. Like Toaster said, it has some really fantastic levels. Gravity Man's level, Gyro Man's level, the first half of Wave Man's level, and a few of the Wily levels have what I consider to be some of the cleverest design in the series.
