I need an alarm clock

Suggest what I should consider getting. Something able to interface with my iPod Touch or could play a CD track for the alarm would be nice, but really the only thing that I really NEED is something that displays the time clearly and that has an effective alarm.

I hate normal "OMFG WAKE UP" alarms, since I'm a light sleeper. So I use this cheap clock radio thingy and just set it to play the classical station... really loud.

Edit: Here is the one I use. The buzzer isn't that annoying at all, I have yet to want to beat the **** out of it. The volume of it starts out very low and slowly rises. It also has an auto daylight savings feature. Yada yada, I reccomend it.

You don't actually have to use your phone for calls. They're great alarm clocks. They are also more durable than most alarm clocks you can get from a store. My cat destroys every alarm clock I ever get (seriously and intentionally) so I can only use my cell phone.

My cell phone allows the alarms to recur on certain days too, so I don't have to keep setting it, it sets itself. I don't know of an alarm clock that does that.

I use my DS, plugged into the wall and across the room so I have to actually get up to shut it off.

So far, it's the only alarm clock that's actually worked for me.

Just get a 15 dollar timex one from office depot or radio scrap.

I have a aiwa clock I really like that I've been using for about seven years. It'd be silly to think they still make it so I'm not recommending it

Yeah, I use my cell phone. With the loudest, most jarring song possible. It scares days off my life every time I use it. But it's never failed to wake me up. =3

But also my cell phone doesn't have any capability to store music so if I used that I wouldn't be able to have a song wake me up.

It does work with the top closed, but not when its off. However, closing it dampens the sound a bit, even when its maxed, so its effectiveness will depend on how quiet/loud your room/area is.

I use my phone's alarm these days since its got a repetition function (set it to go off only on work days), but I used to just use my stereo's alarm set to the classical station.
