My Trip To The Beach Today. (Meet Penelope).

I had a great day at the beach today. I got a lot of new pics up at my myspace page about it. The beach was crawling with turtles today, and I caught one. After I showed Penelope off to my wife and son, I let her go back into the water.

I recorded a video of her running away into the water. Check it out.

I'm more partial to Alligator Snapping Turtles myself, as opposed to painted turtles. Those would make awesome pets, but damn are they dangerous.

That's one determined turtie. Damn thing kills the "turtles are slow" cliche.

Yeah, but in Michigan the only types of turtles we have are Common Snapping Turtles, Western/Eastern/Sourthern Painted Turtles, Map Turtles, Wood Turtles, Spotted Turtles, Mud Turtles, and Blandings Turtles, and a few others. There are other rarer ones that you'd have a slim to no chance of ever seeing. No Alligator Snappers here except they are sold in pet shops.

I don't know about Alligater Snappers, but I raised a few Common Snappers and they never tried to bite me, makes me wonder if they know not to bite the hand that feeds.

Turtles aren't slow at all, actually. They are quite fast as long as they are healthy. That saying comes from Tortoises, which are slow, or at least most of them.

If you guys are interested, I could post some pics or videos of my pet turtles. I have nine of them.

Edit: For those that haven't seen one, this is an Alligator Snapper, the largest water turtle in the world:

Hopefully that image shows up for everyone, I lifted it from Google.

I've seen turtles jet across the road before. I was merely being faceeeetious.

Also, tortoise, turtle, and terrapin all have exceedingly similar "it's a turtle" definitions. =3

            It's ADORABLE!

It could also tear off an appendage too.

It would be awesome to have one named Kiwi, raised from a neonate tortoise up into a full grown monster...

Too bad they can't breath fire.
