The very real threat of racist Mexican comic book characters

Black leaders are up in arms, Mexican readers are all, "LOL, WUT?"

    http://www.cnn.com/2008/US/07/09/mex...mic/index.html

Is it possible for a piece of fiction to feature remarkably racist aesthetics while still being meaningful? I'd like to think so.

"This is absolutely insensitive toward race, in particular the African-American culture, and also people of color," Quannel X said. "This is poking fun at the physical features of an entire people."
This cracks me up. Physical features and genetic variety within any culturally defined "race" are no more uniform than they are for the species as a whole. But this guy, from his name to his self-identification of African-American features, has embraced all the stereotypes he's offended by.
So you're a fish out of water...
            Keep swimming.
            What else can you do?

                  He's not even a black character... he's a Cuban-Mexican.

God, black people always think it's about them.

Memin is a poor Cuban-Mexican kid with bug eyes, thick lips and protruding ears. The mischievous and caring boy helps his mother by selling newspapers and shining shoes.
Wow, this is exactly like my life story...

TBS is coming shortly... I finally got off my lazy self and contacted Datel, so new Max Drive software is coming thus allowing me to release my TBS.

Its not that the comic book character is racist, its that he offers a stereotypical insult to the african american community.

Which isnt really an insult, 90% of black people I see do in fact have thick lips, no insult intended...all the comic book does is exaggerate it.

But hes not even black, so whats the fuss about?

Here I come Pav, like the Kool-Aid man barging into a funeral! Oh yeah!

I hate people. Bunch of idiots who are merely looking for a fight, and don't bother to look at the facts. He's CUBAN, not "African-American."

                              Idiots.
