I don't want to hear it. I don't want to hear it.
Oh... wait. I'm not a Christian.
Yeah, many of the stories about Christ appear in other religions and stories, many prior to his birth. Like the going to the desert for forty days and nights. Buddah and Zoroastor did it too.
This, in turn, undermines one of the strongest literary arguments employed by Christians over centuries to support the historicity of the Resurrection (in which they believe on faith): the specificity and novelty of the idea that the Messiah would die on a Friday and rise on a Sunday. Who could make such stuff up?
That sounds suspiciously unlike a strong literary argument.
Yeah, that does sound pretty stupid. I mean, what's the big deal if there's a resurrection precedent? The Lion King pretty much has the same story as Hamlet, but it's still decent.
Wait, so if the argument is that it's something so out there that it couldn't be made up by a mere mortal, doesn't Scientology pretty much win by default?

Precisely why no one in their right mind would make that argument.
i think people are missing the whole point of religion. if we suddently found irrifutable evidence tomorrow that proved that the whole christain religion was a lie would it really change anything? religion is based on faith, not in proving that it exists or not with science or reason. those who belive belive in the spirit of christanity, and that belief will not be shaken by any hard evidence.
Thank you Ωbright for the sig fix!
