fixed it 20 minutes later....

I can't believe it. I guess not using your 360 for two weeks, causes that. Luckily the towel trick worked for me. I just bought Devil May Cry 4 and thought I was going to have to kill someone when I had seen the lights appear.

It's gonna screw up later. The towel trick only works for so long, so be prepared to send it in eventually.

It forces the machine to heat up, melting the soldering so the chips will fall back into the correct place.

Yeah, the towel trick is only temporary. Sorry, but you will have to get it fixed.

I had the RROD before, and they sent a new console. Been working fine for 7 months now. Oh, and DLC is tied to Xbox serial number, so if they send you a new console be prepared for any DLC to be useless unless signed onto Live. Then, only the profile than downloaded it can use it. You have to wait until MS transfers the number to the new console, which then you have to redownload the crap. Its a hassle, but MS are at least owning up to the RROD issue.

And before I head out: Is it a complete ring, or 3/4 of it red? People tend to confuse AV cord problems with RROD. I'm not sure if you're aware of this.

You're not opening the console, so you haven't "broken" the warranty.

Considering that your 360 is already bricked if you're doing this, I don't see how it could hurt.
