Any of you want to talk about the RPG Makers?

I donno, it just seem nobody is interested in talking about them anymore. Sure, they're old news, but that shouldn't stop us from talking about them.

To get started, let me say I'm glad Enterbrain developed these games and that Agetec decided to publish them over here in America. While I've yet to complete any games (or my demo, I'm still working on it, I've been lazy and distracted), I'm glad I have the chance to express my thoughts and ideas in a creative matter that wouldn't be possible any other way.

Er... isn't this entire forum about talking about the RPG Makers?
I doubt we need a topic for it.

Yeah, but when I just hit the new post button only 2 of the 10 threads were related to RPG Makers.

          Yep

I'm currently learning to use RM2, and I'm surprised at how quickly I'm catching on to things. When I first got it I was very put off, mostly because of all the damn button configurations and combinations for all the editors. It's hard to memorize what everything does in each editor. But having the walk through helps.

Dare I say it (sorry Lausen ) but I think RM2 might just be my favorite out of all of them. It's has so much freedom in comparison to the other two (console) versions, and I think it looks and sounds the best as well. It's extremely daunting though. It takes longer to accomplish even the smaller things with it, but it's well worth it IMO. It just seems to suit my needs better than the others do.

I'm still creating stuff with the other two makers, but right now most of my attention is spent learning to use 2. I really wish I could just sit down and get something done with any of them though. I'm thinking about maybe making a little game, maybe something silly, or whatever just so I can finally create a finished product after all this time. I dunno... I'm rambling now.

I am still working on Siren's Reef. I think it is more of a thing to finish the game, instead of talk about it.

I think most people feel the same way. They are working on games, but they just really haven't felt like talking about their games. But be sure, there are people still glad to talk about, and make games on rpgmakers.

                Damn you!!!

Yeah, I actually think 2 will be my favorite once I start to learn more. I want to talk about the game I'm working on, but it's a contest game so I can't say too much.

                Vonwert get SR done already!!!

Yeah, I think RPGM 2 might be my favorit one. While it's a lot of work, it definitly is the most rewarding. There is just so many things you can do with this game that just aren't possible with RPGM 3. That doesn't mean that RPGM 3 is a bad Maker or anything, but it's just so limiting.

I only wish I had these games when I was 10 years old. Especially 3, due to
its user friendly features. But now that I'm all grown up(kind of), I prefer
2's flexibility and even relish the challenges it poses to the imaginative
game creator. I was put off by the graphics at first(that was my reason
for purchasing 3), but I think of it like punk rock, it has rough edges but its
                      all about freedom.
24 is the highest number there is.

Well said...I think. The only thing with 2's graphics is that when you are trying to create an emostional moment, or even a serious moment, it makes me wonder if people will take it seriously or not.

                          Theres nothing childish about 3...

Theres nothing special about games made with 2, because there arent really any boundaries to break, theres plenty of boundaries to break with 1 and 3, and thats the fun of them...Id much rather bust my butt to make a half decent small game with 3 that breaks a few boundaries then make a vast game with 2 that doesnt do anything other then a few custom things.

I agree. I just think that any RPGM would have been fun when I was
younger, although I might have enjoyed 1 & 2 less at that age. Incidentally,
there are still boundaries on 2 that are being broken. Madcopper is making
great progress on a Tactical battle system.

yeah one and two is definately harder then three, I owned one first and didnt even get RM3 until 2006, so I got a good 6 -7 years experience on RM1, which made learning RM3 a breeze.

I got 2 a year or so ago and havent really touched it, so Im not sure of any boundaries that can be broken on it.

I just dont prefer the graphics of RM2 to the others, and the motion blur gives me a headache after a while.
