    Top 5 moments in Lost

Yeah, I know we have the Lost thread, and the Lost social group. But I decided to make a new topic anyway. I just watched the pilot for the first season for the 4th time (first time on my HDTV, and with a 7.1 speaker setup (albeit only REALLY at 5.1, as it's on DVD coming into my receiver through fiber optic)), and I was smiling a good portion of the way through, remembering just how awesome the show really is. So, for all 6 or so Lost fans here, what are your top five (or ten) favorite moments from the first four seasons?

For me, in no particular order:

-The small act of defiance Sun shows by unbuttoning her top button in the pilot episode.
-Desmond's meeting with the woman from the jewelry store (hard to pinpoint an exact moment from that episode, as the whole thing was incredible, but this sequence was probably the most meaningful from that episode).
-Locke throwing his tray of food against the wall in season 4, and the cut to Ben's gleeful smirk.
-Hurley, Charlie, Sawyer, and Jin riding in the VW (a nice light reprieve from the main storyline).
-The light from the hatch in the season finale of the first season.
-Sawyer, Locke, and "the man from Tallahassee" in the Black Rock.
-Ben's meeting with Chales Widmore, and the implications it may have on Pen and Desmond.
-The first montage with Hurley's headphones.
-Charlie making the decision to throw his remaining stash into the fire beside Locke.
-The final "flashback" to the Others watching the plane come apart, and the look that Juliet and Goodwin give each other (which had been shown before, but now actually had some background), and how that moment impacted Juliet's motivation for everything that came after (before).
-Charlie's sacrifice in the Looking Glass station.
-Desmond finally telling Charlie his destiny.
    -Rousseau and Alex reunited.
-Ben and Hurley sharing the candy bar.

Okay, that was FAR more than 5, but there are so many good moments that I couldn't stop thinking of them.

And as an honorable mention, only because now it's an inside joke between my buddy, his brother, and myself, "This is not YOUR island....this is OUR island."

    In no particular order either.

    1) When they blew open the door to the hatch and peered down inside.
    2) The end of season 3 when the survivors finally triumphed over the Others.
    3) Charlie's death in the Looking Glass.
    4) Ben mourning over his daughter after the smoke monster attacked Widmoore's men.
    5) After the hatch was destroyed Locke's faith being restored.

Everything you said is now made meaningless because you like Hurley's headphone montages.

Why do you people want to mock my topic thusly?

And Mora, I said I liked the FIRST headphone montage. It honestly gave me a warm fuzzy feeling inside, and I had a huge smile plastered to my face when I watched it the first time. Call me a sentimental romantic sap, I dunno.

However, the rest were played out. I'm just glad they put an end to it with Hurley's batteries dying, which, as Kefka mentioned, was pretty damn awesome. It ALSO put a smile on my face, but I didn't get the same warm, fuzzy feeling as I did with the first one.

But if I had to make a REAL top five and not go overboard as in my first post, I would include (in no particular order):

            -Sun's unbuttoning the top button.
-Hurley and Ben sharing a candy bar.
-Locke and Sawyer and the "man from Tallahassee" in the Black Rock.
            -Rousseau and Alex's reunion.
-Locke throwing the tray of food, and Ben's smirk.

Lost: Come for the sci-fi mystery, stay for the human drama.

The Cyclops having only one eye, needed to seek shelter from the harsh sun. The shadow cast by the spheres gave him temporary respite.

I know you made the "," but I need to defend my good name here.

I just thoroughly enjoyed the small act of defiance that was encompassed in that seemingly meaningless action. If you look at my real top five, you'll see that, for me, small quiet moments like those are what really make the show so wonderful. If I did not genuinely care about the characters (because the writers and producers DO throw in these small seemingly insignificant moments), I would not like the show even half as much.

Seriously, I never seen this show. It just never looked that interesting.

Seeing how my head is filled with all kinds of important stuff that forces much of the Lost stuff out of my head (no pun intented), I'll guesstimate.

                      In no particular order:
Sawyer trying to get is fish biscuit.
                      Boon's hallucination.
That time Sawyer had no shirt on.
Mr. Eko's confrontation with his brother/smoke monster before his death.
                      The car thing too.
                      When the island disappeared.

These moments are subject to change. Not valid in all states.

I'm pretty sure that was the last thing I saw of the show. I hadn't watched it since the first couple episodes of season 3 and one night was flipping channels and watched that scene before continuing on with the flippage.

Cutter....I've not watched TV on a regular basis (meaning, for more than 1-2 hours a week) for over a decade....****, probably closer to 15 years now. There was a span of about 3-4 months back in the mid 90s where I watched for probably 3-4 hours a week, but that's really it. So I know what you are saying for your number 4. I watched 24 on TV (as opposed to seeing seasons 1-3 on DVD first) for seasons 4 and 5, and then finally watched season one and two of Lost on DVD (I watched all 24 hour-long...give or take...episodes of season 2 in three days), and have not looked back since season three began airing.

Long story a bit longer, I agree with you that TV sucks hard. That's why I've not watched it for probably 15 years. It's seriously brain rot. But, honestly, I think Lost is the best show I've ever seen in my entire life (and yes, I used to watch TV constantly when I was a kid). It's just different. There seriously is nothing else like it out there. It's probably the most original show that's ever been made. I mean, seriously, has there ever been a show that on a consistent basis forces you to research and use your brain in order to pick up all of its references and nuances? I think not. Do not diss something that you have no knowledge of.

What am I saying? He'll never even enter this topic again probably.

TV doesn't suck. It's the best it's been in years. Just find a show that suits you! :3
