    BRITISH COLUMBIA CLIMATE ACTION DIVIDEND

Bascially the government sent everybody checks for $100 to spend on buying/updating their homes/cars with more energy efficient stuff. I got mine yesterday.

Will people actually use it for that, to save money in the long run and reduce the provinces energy use? Hell no.

yea this was a dumb move. if the gov wants people to spend any amount on energy efficient stuff then they will have to give it in the form of a rebate. anything else is asking people to spend the money on something else.

Thank you Ωbright for the sig fix!

You can buy an old horse to drive to work. Their only emission is methane and fertilizer.

I know people won't use the money for reducing their carbon foot print. Ontario has it right. At work, we have events almost every weekend to encourage people to reduce their footprint on the earth. Events included...

-Bring in your old air conditioner, we'll give you $25 towards a new one. (we sold $95,000 in a/c units in 2 days, and we would have sold more but we ran out)

                - Free clothesline giveaway

                - Free compact Flourescent light bulbs

                - Bring in your old tower lamps and we will take $10 off of an energy start one

                - Free energy saving kit with pipe wrap, 2 faucet aerators, timer for lights, etc.

                - Sign up for Peak time saver with the city (where they will turn down your a/c unit by 2 degrees during peak times) and get $50 instantly

                - no PST on anything energy start certified.

There are more, I just can't remember them. This seems to be more on the offence then just handing out money

Haven't been here long enough to get one... They do seem to be very gungho about climate change here in BC, probably because they still have forests.

Out here in Kamloops they are chopping down any and all trees in town and around town that could house beetles in the future. But we are SURROUNDED by forrests all over the mountains here, so I dont know what the hell they are trying to do.

another rebate is the 60-75 dollars back on 6 liter toilets. that bug eating the trees or whatever it does to kill them is pretty insane. when i went to bc 2 years ago all i saw was brown dead trees for miles. i think the chop em down before they get infested is jut a cheap excuse to make some free money without the environmentalist agenda crap.

i bet most people will put that 100 towards a tank of some nice ozone spitting gas.

I live on Vancouver Island, maybe it's not so bad. But I have seen it in other places, kind of sad.

Not really, we got $600 for doing absolutely nothing. Someone just made the economy suck, and then thought it would be a good idea to give out more money to somehow stimulate it.

So I think we win, since we got more money, and didn't have any restrictions, except that we spend it.

The are trying to isolate the invested area by making a border that the bug can't cross. Careful, you don't wan't to put your foot in your mouth and say chopping down trees for fire prevention is silly.... if you make a border the fire can't jump/cross, it will isolate it

I also randomly get $22 each month from the governement for doing nothing, and I didn't have to live in a crappy economy to get it.

                              We win
