But that would mean we'd spend less money on the products produced by many of their campaign financers. Can't have that...

Just as long as they look good on TV and make more platitudes that somehow appease disgruntled Americans, the Democratic party will see it fit to continue making empty promises to correct the mistakes of the Republicans while aiding the goals of the Republicans off camera.

There's a chance that Obama may actually be a deviation from this phenomenon, but I personally doubt that to be the case: a promise to support an aerial bombing campaign on Iran in 2004 and voting Yes to the REAL ID Act, just to name a couple of things... Fortunately, his views on Iran have probably changed since then.
