Hello everyone, I just thought I'd post this because I could not find a guide like this and I also have had problems first starting outmaking a field. this guide is simply to help the newer players out that just need help understanding how the field creation system works. This is the first guide I have ever made, so any comments/tips/or things I left out would be greatly appreciated. Well lets start if off then.
Field Settings
Page One
The first page is fairly straitforward, there are four boxes on the left side and two things on the right.
Left Side
First Box: Name of Field
This one is pretty obvious, it is simply the name of the field.
Second Box: Description of Field
This one is also pretty obvious, it is the description that you can put in the for field, I'm not sure where you can view this in the game though.
Third Box: Create Field
This is where you can actually build the field.
Fourth Box: Load Map
This doesn't mean load a map from the memory card, this is instead where you can load up premade maps that are stored in the game if you do not feel like building a field from scratch. You are still able to change this field under Create Field however.
Right Side
Top Box: Field Preview
Select this and move the pointer on the spot you want to preview on the bottom box to see what your field looks like.
Bottom Box
There isn't a description for this one, although it might be obvious anyways. This is just the preview of your field.
Second Page
Left Side
First Box: BGM
This is the Background music that will play while your on the field.
Second Box: Climate
This changes the climate of your field, this changes the background and what the terrain looks like in your field. The choices for this are: Arid, European, Temperate 1/2, Wasteland 1/2, Savanna, and Tropical
Third Box: Season
This selects which season your field is in, which changes what the terrain looks like as well. The choices for this are: Spring, Summer, Autumn, and Winter.
Fourth Box: Time
This selects what the time will be in your field, which affects the lighting. The choices for this are: Morning, Noon, Evening, and Night
Fifth Box: Weather
This selects what the weather will be for your field, which changes what the sky looks like and how far you can see. The choices for this are: Sunny, Cloudy, Rain/Storm, Thunderstorm, Psychedelic, Red Sky, Aurora, Otherwordly, and Dense Fog.
Right Side
First Box: BG
This is the background, and it lets you turn it on and off.
Second Box: Elevation
This selects how high the water level is, the choices for this are: Low, Medium, High, and No Horizon (no water).
Third Box: Magic
This allows you to either suppress or enable magic in the field.
Fourth Box: Trees
This allows you to set how many trees will show on the forest terrain set, the choices for this are: Low, Medium, High, and no trees.
Third Page
Top Left Box: Terrain Type
This allows you to choose which terrain type you will edit for what monster parties will show up there.
Top Right Box: Encounter Rate
This allows you to choose how often the player will encounter monster parties in the terrain type you have chosen, the settings you can choose are: Low, Medium, High, and Always
Bottom Four Boxes: Monster Parties
These four boxes enable you to choose what monster parties will show up in the chosen terrain type (you can only choose monster parties you have created).
Creating The Field
This can be the most rewarding, fun, annoying, entertaining, frustrating, and longest parts of creating the game, at least I think. This is where you want to put a lot of effort into making it the way you want it, so you want to spend plenty of time in these sections to make your field the best in your eyes. I'll try to explain all the features of both the terrain editor and the altitude editor the best I can, and add other stuff in later.
Terrain Editor
Controls:
D-Pad=Move curser around (slowly)
Left Analog Stick=Move curser around (quickly)
Right Analog Stick=Move the editing area around
X Button=Place the terrain type you have selected for X button
Circle Button=Place the terrain type you have selected for Circle button
Square Button=Choose terrain type (you can move over the terrain types by moving the d-pad or left analog stick and pushing X or O will set that terrain type to that button)
Triangle Button=Curser Shortcut (this will just move your curser over to the right side of the screen on the toolbar, and switch it around depending on how many times you push it.
L2=Zoom out the editing area
R2=Zoom in the editing area
R3=Undo (will undo the last few selections if you keep pushing it)
Select=This will change the box on the bottom, between showing what the buttons do to what the current PS2 stats are (Data Usage, CPU, and Video Usage)
Start=Changes the overlay (Don't think this does anything important, just changes the colors a bit)
Altitude Editor
Controls:
D-Pad=Move curser around (slowly)
Left Analog Stick=Move curser around (quickly)
Right Analog Stick=Move the editing area around
X Button=Raise the altitude of the chosen area
Circle Button=Lower the altitude of the chosen area
Square Button=Switches the viewing type of the screen, instead of having blue for anything above 0 altitude and black for 0 altitude it will show all terrain that will be unwalkable in red, whether it be off the map, or if it is too low or it is water.
Triangle Button=Curser Shortcut (this will just move your curser over to the right side of the screen on the toolbar, and switch it around depending on how many times you push it.
L1=Shrink editing tool
L2=Zoom out the editing area
R1=Enlarge editing tool
R2=Zoom in the editing area
R3=Undo (will undo the last few actions if you keep pushing it)
Select=This will change the box on the bottom, between showing what the buttons do to what the current PS2 stats are (Data Usage, CPU, and Video Usage)
Start=Changes the overlay (Don't think this does anything important, just changes the colors a bit)
Unfortunatly I am kind of a procrastinator, so I'll finish up everything a bit later...yeah.
