Final Fantasy VII is still awesome, even after all these years.

I popped in Final Fantasy VII today, and man, for being an old Playstation game it is unbelievable that it's still awesome! I only played it for about twenty minutes and only to get some inspriation, but I just might start playing it again. Everything from the well written characters, to the battle system, to the insanely awesome story, and to the music that brings each scene, to life is pretty awesome. I really, really hope Square Enix remakes FF VII for the PS3.

You know I love how in the FF poll 7 has the most votes, but here people bash it. It makes no sense in my mind. I will always love this game and I don't care what people think. It seems the more success a game has the more the haters are going to hate. So many games don't even touch FF7, but you don't hear people complain about them. You hear them pick at the smallest details of this game. Sure it has a ridiculous amount of hype, but people need to just get over it and except it for what it is.

I dunno either. More confusing: I put the FF poll that has gotten 200+ posts. Of course, about 20 were mine, but still. Pretty amazing.

I'm not here to bash 7. It's still in my top 10 favorite all time games, and it'll never leave. NEVER. I don't understand why such a masterpiece have people who hate it so much. Do the haters even have a decent reason?

I like the game. It's flashy and fun and some of the characters are likable, and Sephiroth, despite my own inner turmoil on the subject, is a badass. But anybody who tries to say the story/characters were well-written is a douchebag and needs to cease using valuable resources living a pointless lie. Life. Both.

Edit: Let me clarify. The Japanese version might be a wonder of modern writing. But I feel pretty comfortable saying none of us knows for sure, because we got a translation only slightly better than Final Fantasy Tactics in the old days. And Square made up for FFT by revamping it for PSP and giving it the translation and voice it so desperately wants and needs. And deserves. Will FFVII get a similar treatment? I'd like to think so. If any game needs an update graphically/translation-wise, it's FFVII.

back then, it was far too big a deal to see it for what it was.

I can remember talking about the story for days or weeks after I beat it, only because I didn't know what the hell happened.

and I still don't.

It's so god damn convoluted, that it just becomes uninteresting.


However, Sephiroth is still a bad ass.

It takes an forty five minutes to an hour to get through the opening sequence and the mako reactor, which is all completely story driven and impossible to die unless you're a complete idiot...how could that possibly be fun?

And how is the story complicated? I didnt have a problem understanding any of it at all
