    Tenchu 4

    What we know so far

    * Wii exclusive
    * Developed by From Software and Acquire, published by Ubisoft NA/EU
    * JP release: Oct 23
    * The protagonists are series vets Rikimaru and Ayame
    * The game takes place one year after the riots caused by the Witchcraft Lord "Tenrai" and centers around the abduction of a princess
    * Heavy emphasis on stealth and sneaking
    * Famitsu article describes it as a possible "epitome of the series"
    * Refreshed character design and new voice actors
    * Assassination animations will be different for each character

    The only Tenchu I've played was Wrath of Heaven and I really enjoyed it. Apparently it and the later ones are considered crap compared to the first two so that makes me even more interested in this one since the original developers are making it.

    Re: Tenchu 4

    I liked Tenchu I because it was easy enough for new players, and could be challenging for experts.

    Tenchu II was cool for the same, and because of the level editor. I loved that thing.

    The rest of 'em blow. My gripe with them was I got lost easily, because of dead ends and whatnot.

    Let's hope this new one goes back to simpler times. When you fought bears.

      when i saw acquire come up on the screen, it immediately gave me hope because i think the original developers will have the best ideas about where progression and can be made for the gameplay and characters. i loved tenchu and tenchu 2.

          From what I've heard, previous entries in the Tenchu series were pretty bad.

            I've played Wrath of Heaven and Tenchu Z, both kicked ass. I love sneaky games like this, which is why I like Splinter Cell too.

            I can't wait for this.

              FanTASTIC.

              The original staff? A great trailer? Way-better-than-expected-graphics on the Wii?

              I am looking forward to it!

                I have never played any of the Tenchu games, but this looks like Way of the Samurai, in terms of fighting, so I may check this out.

                  Wii exclusive?

                  Ah, another cool game I won't ever be playing.

                    Makes sense as Acquire also made Way of the Samurai.

                      Gameplay demonstration

                      The article's in French and the vids in Japanese so I have no idea what they're saying but the controls look uncomplicated. If they're responsive as well things should be a-okay.

                        Upside-down neck-snapping!!

                        The music seems as good as usual. I kind of wish the HUD was a little pared down. Having context-sensitive button commands pop up doesn't feel very ninja-ey to me, y'know?

                          According to The Magic Box, they've also announced Tenchu 5 and 6.

                          That's a lot of Tenchu.
