Quick Note on Variables and Battles

There are a couple of differences in battles

    Active Time Bar
Characters have Bars that fill up before they can attack.
A fast character can now attack repeatedly until another character's time bar fills up, (so 1 character can have 5 turns repeatedly before anyone else moves if he's fast enough.).

    Battle Formation
There can edit what row and what side you place your characters and enemies in. There's Front, Middle and Behind, and there's left, right and middle. Where you place them is where they appear during battle. For your characters, you can change their battle placement at anytime before a battle.

    Testing
You can also test battles immediately as you create them, without having to go into test mode. You can test and edit enemy actions by themselves or with heroes present. This is actually the case throughout most of the game, you can test stuff in real time in the editor that you’re in , without going into quick play. This is great for quickly fine tuning graphics and such.

    Variables
There are Shared variables and Name Variables. There are 60 Shared Variables. Every item, character, world, or anything you create has a variable number attached to it and can be used as distinct variables, in addition to the Shared Variables.

The time of day can also be used as a Variable, there are 5 different times ranging from morning to night. You can also set the exact time of day, but for some reason the time doesn’t actually change in real time, (meaning you don’t see the day light gradually shift to night). Maybe that’s something that’ll be added, since there’s no point in being able to set the exact time if it doesn’t move.

Is there a way to not use an ATB? think the addition of it is nice, but what if you want turn-based battles? You're kind of screwed now...

The battles are still turn based. Once a character's bar fills up, the other bars stop until you execute that character's commands.

Well, it is evident that this RPG Maker will be much easier to use. Even if it isn't as powerful as RPG Maker 2, I rarely seek to go beyond the norm.

Thanks for the info, Intro1. You keep satisfying my curiosity =P

So it's not an ATB system, it's an AATB (Almost Active Time Battle) system.

                That's awesome info.
Took me 15 minutes to remember how to change my signature, and this is all I came up with.
