    Ignore User Feature

I think it's important I bring this up once a year. It's a dick system, a terrible way to go about fixing things. What ever became of Alzar's idea to minimize people's posts instead of just sending them away completely? I mean, can we like have a community poll on whether to keep this or not? If the whole community really does want the feature still, I'll stop complaining, but I think it's just an elitist prick way about going on about things. So, how about it powers that be?

I use the **** out of this feature. All it does is hide their post. It shows their name and that they made a post, but there is no text. I don't understand what is different than what there is now when you say minimize.

one would be a pain in the ass to implement, one is built in.

that's the only difference I can see.

You would be able to see what the person said if you wanted to. I don't know the Ignore User thing just seems like a retarded way to enforce groupthink. I cannot see the logic of the ignore user feature, it doesn't better the community or yourself, it just helps you get comfortable in your ****ty fake little worlds. It all just seems like you guys don't want to think about anything so you just have an Elephant in the Room situation. Ignoring a problem never fixes it.

Way to get all condescending and Philosophy 101 on us. The system we have now allows for the maximum amount of individual freedom without intruding on the freedoms of other posters. If you don't like the idea of ignoring users, don't use it. Don't shove your own ridiculous, holier-than-thou beliefs on anyone else on these forums.

We ignore people enough, they either get better or they go away. The elephant is gone and we all win.

I never use it long myself, unless somone is going on a tyrade.

Although I would like a feature so I know who has me on ignore, so I don't bother replying to thier comments.

'cause I know a bunch ignore me.

Never used it, even if someone is being a retard it's still going to influence what other people post, might as well know why; thats my logic.

You can see what someone on your ignore list says. For example, I clicked View Post at the top right of Red Dragon's post and it showed me he said more than what he was quoted for by the person after him.

So maybe you should try it out before continuing your rampage as the best person on this board.

These are not holier than thou beliefs. I don't know how many times I have to ****ing say that, will you get the picture now that I'm stating it directly to you. I am not better than you John Mora, and you're not better than me. The ignore user feature was implemented without the consent of a lot of people at the Pav. I understand, administrators have the final word on issues. It just seems to me that you're putting out your own thought system instead of having it be a community. This is Kire's brain child if we are to go so far back and i think he would want us to be welcome to new members so that our community can grow. Don't be the pot calling the kettle black here okay? I just think for once, we should have a vote to see if the system should be kept or not. That's the only way to run a community, through the community's collaborate work.

Listen, I'll give you the material and you can then make your own judgment okay. This is what i have to back my claims:

These are all programming/abstract algebra links to basically ignoring the problem. It shows how it works and in what systems. More research would obviously help you draw a better visual map of our system in relation. Now, the community that Kire proposed was for people to share their minds creations with other people. New people can't come and share if the old members ignore them. You can't know the rules if no one teaches you and if you just try to mimic them, then there's nothing new gained by the group. it's just the same stuff getting recycled, which means we would be becoming stagnant. You said you were going to shoot towards Kire's ideal of the site, right? Ignoring users is not going towards that goal.

Exactly, they go away. That solves the problem of your comfort, not the community's well-being. Just yours. Using your logic Rick, I'd be leaving here very soon. I don't want to, but if I'm ignored and I don't know how to improve, then I should just leave. I will if that's what everyone wants, but I just don't think we should drive people away like this.

I know how you feel RD, but I think I may be one of the ones on a tirade from time to time.

I don't mean to kick up so much dust, but I think this is an important issue.

Edit - Postulate man, I'll ****ing say it again, I AM NOT BETTER THAN YOU. You're not better than me. If i were trying to win a popularity contest don't you think I'd be catering to the people like yourself? No, I'm fighting for what I believe in okay, now will you meet me halfway or keep being a dick?

Double Edit- By popularity contest I mean being the "best" member of the board as that would be what the best member would mean, the person who everyone agrees with the most.

read postulateman's post. then try and tell me that what you're trying to do here makes any sense at all.

I dont care what other sources say. it works here, and I've seen lots of proof.

Most of the things here were implemented without consent.

... I dont think I've ever bothered with getting consent from the pavilion members for features. it typically goes "this is here. use it or don't use it"
