    Character Matching

Hey It's been awhile. Don't we love school, but I'm hopefully ready to work on a new game and I need some help.

Does anyone have any good tips on matching the 3-D character models with the 2-D art models. It bugs the heck out of me when they don't look like they go together.

Also I want my game to have younger looking characters in it but it seems like all I can get is middle-aged or extremly young.

I know this problem isn't fixable but, I hope somone has a miricale answer.
Thank you all. Sorry about spelling my computer at home is broken so I'm doing this at school and can't get spell-checker.

This isn't a sure-fire solution by any means, but try looking at ALL of the 2-d portraits, even those in groupings that you might not think about. For instance, one of the 'fortuneteller' portraits works great for a dancer, etc. Familiarize yourself with the 3-d models first, as there are FAR fewer of them. When you run across a portrait that you like, think of which 3-d model might fit the best, and make a note of it on paper. You'll be glad that you did...there are over 700 character portraits.

There are actually a lot more suitable combinations than you would expect if you do that, though there are some GLARING omissions, like the almost COMPLETE lack of non-white character portraits. Seriously...you should try finding ANY black character portraits, even though you can make virtually any 3-d model black.

Or do what I did and not use 2D portraits.

Here I come Pav, like the Kool-Aid man barging into a funeral! Oh yeah!

I actually compiled a list somewhere in my notebooks for all of the portraits that matched the 3D models. If I can find it, I'll try and post the list. But I have to find it first.

Use the Anime or Drawing 2 or 5 category. When you have a character, just do trial and error. Thanks to that, every character I've made looks alike between its 2D and 3D forms.

            Re: Character Matching

I found that the drawing 2 (or whichever 2D art the game is automatically set to) is the closest match as long as you don't edit the character colors. If you change colors then there is seldom anything close to a match.

On another note, look in ALL the categories!!! I found some of the obscure titles (Bandit?) have matches that can work well depending on color/plot. It also helps to let the audience know what characters really look like: 3D or 2D...
