Sweet Home

[Duel]

A survival horror game released in Japan during the Nes era. Resident Evil was somewhat influenced by this game. It's hardly known but worth playing for Survival Horror fans. I still have the game, snagged it a few years back.

I bet it's rare, but you can probably find it on Ebay. There was also a movie.

Oh, I forgot, it was made by Capcom.

I've never heard of that. That's really cool. I think the item management would drive me nuts, though.

Sweet Home is pretty popular among anyone with a passing interest in Capcom games especially considering EGM did a highlight of the translated rom back in 1999 or so. I think Capcom even mentioned it in a interview or bio information in one of their Capcom Classics games. Shinji Mikami worked on the game so it's pretty safe to call it the grandaddy of Resident Evil. It's also notable as being one of the few licensed games (it is based on the movie) to actually be good even though it's a 19 year old NES game.

I enjoyed it. It had a lot of neat ideas like the split party system and prayer system. The story was also pretty grim for a early NES RPG.
