Some of you may remember that I was complaining about jerkiness in Oblivion when rotating the camera.
Well, I decided to upgrade to SLI, so I bought another of the same video card and linked them up. Amazingly, my framerates doubled (up to 104FPS when running in 1280x1024 with most of the settings maxed) and the performance is amazing. The jerkiness is completely gone even when turning the camera to look at something.
However, I thought my 600watt power supply would be enough. It isn't. SLI overheats my power supply, lets out a foul burning rubber smell, and I cannot play Oblivion until I replace it. If I play it anyway, I risk blowing my entire system.
A 600 watt power supply is actually more than enough power to run SLI. In my case, my power supply was rated incorrectly, and it truly isn't 600 watts. I get what I pay for I guess, and I should've known better.
So, until I get the money for a GOOD power supply (I'm buying an SLI-certified power supply) I'm out of luck with Oblivion. So, all you people that can play the game, I envy you.
