Microsoft to start pulling underperforming titles from live arcade

    http://kotaku.com/5010548/microsoft-...om-live-arcade

    stupid, stupid, stupid, stupid!

Microsoft already got their licensing fees from the games, so I guess they dont care about screwing the publishers over.

if a game you bought is removed, this will likely mean that you will NEVER be able to redownload it.

Yeah, weren't you saying there's a lot of junk on XBLA in another topic?

Stupid move. Very, very stupid move.

Even if a title isn't selling so hot, it still provides something for someone to enjoy .

Re: Microsoft to start pulling underperforming titles from live arcade

According to Whitten, any title that is six months old, with an average Metacritic score below 65 and a demo-to-full conversion ratio below 6%, will be pulled from the service. Concerned parties will be notified three months in advance if a title is going to be pulled.
It'll mostly effect stuff that nobody buys after playing the trial version.

Also at least they're doing something (kinda) good.
Microsoft's Marc Whitten says that, while there won't be a traditional "Spring" Dashboard update, "the team will be releasing a new digital rights management (DRM) tool next month that will allow you to better consolidate your licenses for downloaded content to a single Xbox and allow you the freedom to be able to play your content both online and offline." Well, that's all well and good, but what's that mean for Joe Gamer?

If you've had your Xbox 360 replaced, or if you've upgraded to an Elite and used the inelegant Xbox 360 Hard Drive Transfer Kit, you may have found yourself with a handful of XBLA games that were tied solely to your gamertag and not to your console. That meant you couldn't play them offline or on another account tied to your system. This new tool purportedly solves this dilemma by giving consumers much finer control over the content they've purchased (go figure!).

i have some stuff I could definitely link to my current 'box. I was upset when I had to find out myself I couldnt play certain games offline after getting a replacement.

                    This is completely retarded.

Also, Microsoft gets money for each purchase for a lot of their games, so I don't see why they are taking these games off unless they're really cluttering up the interface or taking up too much space on servers.

Because its hard to find the good games under all the garbage.

I don't think I'll need live arcade anyways since Beer Pong is coming to WiiWare.

And it isn't like Microsoft is hurting for money. They were able to go several years without a cent in profits from Xbox, yet they worry about a few underperforming games? Stupid. Leaving those games on there isn't going to bankrupt them.

I guess they're making room for the new 350MB games.

Room? Wouldn't Microsoft have enough money to buy a thousand 1TB servers if they wanted?
