Flash games are becoming a amazingly powerful, free source of fun.
A crucial part of the new wave is Kongregate. It's a free site that gives you "badges" in a system basically like XBL Acheivements. It's a very important addition, for two reasons. 1. - It solidifies the time playing flash games. That is, instead of being disjointed activities to do when bored, it's a real activity to log on to kongregate and play. And more importantly - 2. It gives you a goal. Seriously. After playing games with badges you'll feel a bit awkward without them. Having something you're trying for will make you stick with a game much longer, and that will often let you realize how fun it really is.
