    Downloading Games

    http://www.direct2drive.com/

Anyone use this? I am thinking about getting Supreme Commander using this service, yet I don't really understand how it works.

I want to know if anyone knows how exactly it works. All I really see in the detail is that YOU DOWNLOAD STUFF LOLZ!

So if I had to reformat it says this:
What if my computer crashes and I lose a Direct2Drive video?

Your purchase stays in our records, so you can download your video anytime in the event of a hard drive crash.

Please note: We recommend that you backup your purchased Direct2Drive products after download. You will need to run the file again on the computer to reactivate your personal license.

If you ever have any trouble activating your license or downloading your video again, our customer support team is always here to help you out.
So does this work like Steam does any you can redownload anytime as long as you have an account or like, i dunno, bigfish.com or somthing like that where they just give you a registration code and you have to keep reactivating it?

Is it more of a hassle than just ordering the CD? It looks like a pretty neat service that even GameStop is starting to do.

The purchases are saved to your account and everytime you reinstall the game it'll ask you to reactivate it. As long as you're not continually uninstalling and reinstalling the game it's not a hassle at all.

I used it to download Space Rangers 2 which I felt was the most criminally underrated RPG of 2006 and Call of Cthulhu, another stupidly underrated and largely ignored horror game even though it's pretty much the best of its genre.

even though it might be less hassle than a CD, it might have problems with installs like Steam does. GO GABE!
