    Penny Arcade: OtRSPoD

The Penny Arcade RPG/Adventure game comes out tomorrow, and is anyone else here saving the 1600 points/20 dollars to get it? It looks like it may actually be fun, plus be the first genuinely funny game I'll have played for a while.

Oh, btw, does anyone know when on Wed new XBLA games come out? Is it midnight or early morning?

I am coming for all of you!

Yup, too bad I won't be able to get it.

It's a really well kept secret, in his defense. I don't think I've ever seen them link to it in their blog posts or put up concept art.

              No duh, Denethor.

I got it. It's pretty much everything a Penny Arcade fan could hope for in a game based on the characters without going over the top and being really self-serving. Too short for $20. Not much replay value. But the battle system was nice and varied, implementing various methods of special attacks and an active dodge system. Lots of irreverent dialogue boxes and weird stuff going on makes it a fun little romp, but I kinda wish it'd been just $10 or $15.

Too short? Didn't it take about 7 hours or something? I've bought $60 games that I got less time out of. I'm not saying those games are acceptable, but $20 for 7 hours seems more than fair to me.

I finished it in 8 hours. I wouldn't have a problem if there was extra content or something to do after you beat it. There's nothing. You can look at artwork you find during the game, listen to music you found during the game, and kill a fruit ****er if you roll a 20. There's no New Game+ or battle modes or anything at all. As a straight-up game, it was fun, but I'm gonna have to shell out another $20 for a game that's probably comparable in length to finish the story, and still not have anything extra.

I'm stingy. I'm used to RPGs that cost $40-$60 that last me 30 hours or more.

I got my little brother some Live points for his birthday. He bought this, beat it, and ended up liking it way better than Ninja Gaiden 2, which we also got for him.

Oh goodness! You've been cheated by 2 hours!

                          Hardly a worthy comparison.

I played the demo on Steam, it seems nice enough but I tear through games too quickly to pay $20 for it.

I guess I will wait for all the episodes to come out an wait for a package deal.

I'm led to believe it's only two episodes, but that doesn't mean they won't expand the world of crazy noir fun for future installments.
