I liked Donnie Darko. It doesn't really deserve cult status like some people think, but I still enjoyed it quite a bit.

But it doesn't really warrant a sequel.

I rented it as a new release because Jena Malone was in it. Little did I know it was a MOVIE FOR INTERLECTUALS that pretended it was about an emo kid. Or was that the other way around?

I rented it because I'd heard the title before and hadn't the slightest idea what it was. I enjoyed it muchly. I wish I had a cellar so I could gaze wistfully at its door.
