I'm going to be having some free time on my hands and I thought hey! Why not read some of those ever important books people are always saying changed the world! So, fire away.

I think that everyone should read The Brothers Karamazov at some point in their life.Last edited by Vanilla Iced Tea; 05-17-2008, 06:16 PM.

You could always try some Ayn Rand. Light reading (that most people read in high school) is Anthem, while the heavier tomes of Objectivism fiction (and ultimately way better and more entertaining) are Atlas Shrugged and The Fountainhead."Mindless killing doesn't do a lot for me anymore." - Sampson

If you didn't read it in highschool or your humanities electives, Brave New World by Aldous Huxley.
If you can recall the general plot points of Hamlet, Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are Dead is funny/weird.
Beloved by Toni Morrison is perhaps the most gripping ghost story ever.
One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest, I staid up all night reading to finish when I first did so.Last edited by jacquel; 05-17-2008, 08:05 PM.

Salinger does no wrong by me. I respectfully disagree and recommend at least Catcher in the Rye and Nine Stories.Originally posted by EvilNixon666 View PostI would suggest Lord of the Flies, but most people read that in school.
I honestly didn't think Catcher in the Rye was all that great. My dad and I still argue about this.
Also I third Of Mice and Men. Is Catch 22 a classic? I liked that. Also, A Farewell To Arms.
