    DnD 4th Edition

As most of you know, I'm a huge DnD nerd. The new edition is coming out in less than a month, and from all the playest/design stuff I've read I'm pretty pumped. (Regarding the online app suite/game table, much less so.) I thought I'd see if there's anyone else looking forward to this, and/or players of the older editions. If so, please join my DnD group so we can have a place for our nerdiness.
ALSO, you can preorder all 3 books off of amazon right now for $62. I have done so, rest assured.

Good thing they did this before I decided to buy the third edition....

2nd edition was where it was at. I had 3rd edition also. I haven't played in years though. I don't think I could ever get into it again.

Haven't played in quite a while, but I've been following information on the new edition over at ENWorld the last several months. Some of the rule changes look interesting, but not all that interested in some of the flavor the game has been taking recently.

lack of save or die spells. LAAAAAME. that makes games so much funnier. a fighter in our party failed his FORT SAVE, and died to Implosion. So, we took a tiny lump of matter back to town and said SAVE HIM!

I guess they nerfed spellcasters for a reason, clerics could be all-powerful in 3.5.

I'm interested, but I don't think there's much I can do because I have no one to play with. If there are any good single player games based on 4th edition, that would be sweet.

Well, it's when I was really into DnD anyway. I pretty much stopped when
                  3rd edition came out.

Well if the online game table is worth it there's that. then again, it's directX and they are flatly ignoring the linux crowd. To my knowledge WINE won't work for it, BUT WE SHALL SEE.

You mean AD&D Online? Naw, I refuse to play any game with a monthly fee.

No, it's not DDO / ADADO. It's an actual game table to play the real game. But it DOES have a monthly fee, and while this includes an app suite, Dungeon/Dragon subscriptions (in PDF form), a character generator, and a lot of other cool looking stuff, it still looks at though it will manage to not be worth it.

The online thing is the only thing that might sway me to seriously look at 4th edition. I think it would be cool if we could set up a Pavilion D&D game.

I like 3.5 because it feels more customizable and there's a TON of stuff out there for it.

Anybody know what the fee for the online will be, or are we assuming it'll be comparable to WOW?

Years ago I used to play in a chatroom, with a dungeon master that used some chat program that rolled dice. That was fun.
