GH4 and Rock Revolution

Everybody's trying to be Rock Band.

Guitar Hero 4 will have guitar and bass (with "new gameply mechanic" although GH3 guitars will still work), drums with 3 pads and 2 cymbals, and vocals on a mic. All wireless. It'll also have some kind of track creation sans vocals and you'll be able share created tracks.



Rock Revolution by Konami will have guitar, bass, and drums but not vocals (except on DS). And has an emphasis on drumming.

The PS3 and Xbox 360 versions will feature:

* 40 songs on the disc, with DLC tracks planned
* Record your own songs in a "Jam Session" (8 separate tracks)
* Online co-op, versus, and battle of the bands modes
* Crazy big drum set with six pads, plus pedal

The Wii version adds the ability to play "air guitar" using the Wiimote and nunchuck; and the DS version includes a "Vocalist" mode using the built-in microphone.

Well... Konami kind of did the band thing first.
Remember GuitarFreaks, Drum Mania, and Keyboard Mania?
They could all be connected together for 5-player co-op (2 GuitarFreaks, 2 Keyboard Mania, and 1 Drum Mania).

Of course, that's not to say that this isn't trying to clone Rock Band. It is. It even has the boring Guitar Hero style scoring, as in, it doesn't have the different point values for hitting notes more accurately, like in the other Konami games (at least, it doesn't seem so).

Regardless of the circumstances, the only thing I care about is who does it best. It'll be interesting to see.

Glad to know none of them will use the same peripherals, paying 100 dollars for a controller that only works with one game is great.

Everybody's trying to be Doom.

Everybody's trying to be Final Fantasy VII.

Everybody's trying to beat match.

Once everyone saw how successful a rhythm matching game could be(if done a certain way in a certain market), many follow suit. Happens all the time(check out the match-3 genre in the casual market). In this case though, the approach is totally off.

Yeah, that's really the stupidest drum set I've ever seen.

Really, Konami should have just made a new DrumMania and GuitarFreaks, and put it on consoles.
