    Very important new rule.

    I have added a new rule (#8) and regulation in responce to the dozens of tech support issues that have been filling my PM inbox recently.

    8. Private Message spam/harassment
    Abuse of the private message system to spam or harass forum members is not tolerated. if we find out you're doing it, we will remove your ability to use the system.

    The staff's PM inboxes are not an alternative to the site info and suggestions forum and tech support forum. If you have a suggestion for the pavilion, use the suggestions forum. if you want your name changed, use the tech support forum. if you're having problems with any part of the forum, like using sigs, use the tech support forum. The only time it is suitable to PM staff members about issues like these is if it's a matter that you believe would be best kept private, and kept out of the public eye. Failure comply with this regulation is considered a violation of rule 8, and Administrators have permission to remove your ability to send PMs if you constantly insist on using their PM inbox as your personal tech support line for issues that don't need the privacy of the private message system. they are also under not required to respond to tech support issues via PM, and are allowed to ignore such messages if they wish.


    There are times that it's fine (and preferred) for you to contact the staff via PM for tech support issues. if there's something you believe should be kept private, send a PM. Someone noticed an issue with private user galleries and contacted me about that via PM. that's good. something like that should not be posted publicly. PMing staff with a question about the rules (like if it's okay to post something in a certain forum) is fine, since you'll likely be asking about something that might violate forum rules if posted in tech support. PMing staff asking about how to use signatures or user titles is not okay, and it's a waste of our time.

    The time I had to spend dealing with such PMs since the forum upgrade has cost me dearly. I have not been able to work on normal updates, I have not been able to work on other upgrades. It has made me more irritable, and increased my stress a great deal. to let you know how bad this problem is, I recieved well over 60 PMs yesterday about things that could be asked in tech support. these 60+ PMs covered a mere six issues. that's six topics that could have been made in tech support, that other people could have seen and not had to ask anyone questions about.
