    SMT: Nocturne Reprints

For those of you who originally missed out on SMT: Nocturne, you might want to pick these up now. The reprint of Nocturne however does not come with the soundtrack as it originally did.

    Play-Asia

So now I've got DDS 1&2, Nocturne, and PS: FES all barely played. Yay?

Play P3 on Easy first... seems to make it go by fast. Then DDS 1 & 2. Nocturne is a ***** to complete if you're a completionist.

I'm not playing on Easy. These games are meant to be Hard. But I'm not going to play through on the actual Hard mode though. I'll end up breaking my controller.

Yep, when I saw a Hard Mode in Nocturne I laughed then selected normal. No way I was going to go hard.

As for you suckers who don't already have the game... what the hell are you waiting for!?!

Why? Honestly, having beaten it, short of a few annoying bosses, it's not that difficult a game. Certainly not as difficult as Nocturne. I'd rank it with DDS in terms of challenge.

Of course, it doesn't help that the bonus dungeon that gets opened up is so overpowered that you can easily reach level 99 in under 3 hours, and there's one attack that kills everything in the game except for 2 bosses in one hit.

              Re: SMT: Nocturne Reprints

For anyone possibly considering getting this game it's got a 84% on gamerankings. Not too shabby.

In a genre filled evil empires, zippers, and ill fated meteo-sexual protagonists it's a refreshing take on the genre. Just don't expect any gameplay revolutions or it to show you anything new (even the demon fusing which is one of the most compelling aspects of party customization feels a bit like Pokemon, if only on crack). In fact, it's a very "by the book" kind of RPG. But it does all those things perfectly, instead of half-assed like most RPGs these days. I will warn you though; this game is not for the faint of heart because nearly every fight is a chance to die. Boss battles are not the only times where you might see the game-over screen as the game is constantly challenging you instead of "every once in a while and right before the obligatory save point". Which is a good thing, as frustrating as it can be. Never is the game un-fair, or cheap. It's strictly battle strategy and making sure you bring the right skills to the table, not mindlessly pressing the button. After all, random encounters in your typical JRPG usually serve as fodder to boost your EXP points for the next boss. And there's no reliance on equipment or falsely getting "stronger" here (I have higher numbers!).

It's the perfect RPG for people who have grown tired of the genre and the worn-out bag of tricks it relies on. The contents are exactly the same--don't get me wrong--but it feels like the stars aligned and the gods smiled and that everything is done right this time around.

The game is like fine wine for the videogame connoisseur. You won't be able to appreciate it unless you're played your fair share or RPGs and have been able to formulate your own criticisms on them.

As much as I want to agree, The Trumpeteer has an instant death move that works on the weakest opponent costing only 1 HP. He also has a heal spell that fully heals the one with the least HP (both friend or foe) costing only 1 MP. They work regardless of special traits that should leave them immune. The instant death move doesn't work in forced battles, though.

Everyone *****ed about the Trumpeteer so I prepared myself for the beating of a lifetime when I knew I had to face him. I died once, then was able to best him the second time around. Guess I got lucky. Probably not gonna happen the second time around though.

The Matador though, he was a *****. I think he killed at least five times until I was able to get that guy. I think he had a move that dimished your accuracy and I didn't really have anything to nullify that or bring it back up so he kept on beating up while I kept on missing turns.

The game also have a unique turn system that punishes using attacks that don't work and rewards effective attacks.

                      d-double post!

I'm really not liking DDS so far. I can't imagine having to play the game ALL OVER again in DDS2. I'm just gonna come back to it some other time and see how I feel, but as it stands. Meh. The characters are really annoying too. Why the hell does Cielo talk in a foney-baloney jamacian accent? He's a white dude with blue dread-locks. Then there's the whole 'cannibalism' aspect that feels pretty tacked on. With a game that should have some shock value for the nature of it's content I was never once shocked during the game and the intro was one of the least thrilling or engaging things I've ever experienced.

The biggest problem this series has is level design. There are quirks the dungeons have sometimes but it's all pretty much walk around get into fights every few steps repeat. Maybe throw some switches around or fall into traps here and there, but yeah. Extended play sessions = no.

P3:FES and Nocturne are defeniately the ones that are worth checking out.

DDS is fine. I got everything for the main character. {:3

And I think most people were angry with the Trumpeter because they didn't go in knowing his tricks. I personally loathe White Rider, but he forced me to play the game Atlus' way, so whatever.

Cielo's accent is eventually explained and the cannibalism is a huge part of the second game's plot. But if you're looking for any real sort of explanations for anything in the game you're gonna have to play the sequel, unfortunately.

That's what I was kind of expecting, unfortunately.

I just found out that I anserwed a question "wrong" and now I won't be able to get Heat in the next game. I'm not starting over though. I'll just do a new cycle game and get al the bonus crap the second time around.

You get another character who shares the same stats and is significantly less of a prick in the event you don't get him, so I wouldn't worry about it.
