A minute being, the "urban" term for "a while." One of my flatmates (people have told me that referring to those I live with as housemates sounds gay) is moving out tomorrow, and she's disconnecting the DSL and taking her router with her. So not only do I need to scrape up enough money to pay rent and bills this month (it looks as if I'll be owing Bill, the guy I live with, more money so he can cover me for the $100 I'm probably gonna be short this month), but now I need to buy a router, and get the internet hooked up again. I'm not sure if I'll be online tomorrow...not sure exactly when she's getting the service disconnected. But I figured I'd let my fellow Pavvies know that if I'm not around for a bit, this is the reason why.

Re: I may be offline for a minute.
Bad, as in, "gay"? Or bad as in, I'm obviously not British, and yet I'm adopting a British term, which makes me sound pretentious? I just do not like to use the term, "roommate," because that would seem to me to indicate either that we live in the same room, like a dorm or something, or that we share a room in a tiny cramped apartment.
Have you any better suggestions?

Re: I may be offline for a minute.
I used housemate when I was in your scenario, but being a girl, I didn't care if it sounded gay or not.
It is not the house vs. flat argument, it's saying the word mate, so change that and you're set.
Like House guest or house buddy.... or lease buddy
There are legal terms like co-tenant, co-renter.....
goddammit I need sleep

Re: I may be offline for a minute.
Referring to them as your flatmate just makes you sound gay and British.
EDIT: But I see you already realized that.
Anyway, I hope your monetary issues get worked out.Last edited by DarkwingChuck; 04-30-2008, 12:55 PM.I want that Mulan McNugget sauce, Morty!

Re: I may be offline for a minute...and a minute has come and gone.
Okay...Now I'm back. I'm digging the new upgrades. Obviously, I've already done some stuff with them last week (I was at my buddy's house), and now comes the part I dread...catching back up. There's like 2 and a half pages of unread threads in the free forum alone. *sigh*
Anyway, does nobody else want to be alone, stinking, and unafraid with me?
