    Idea

Howdy there. Haven't really posted a whole lot, been busy and whatnot, but I have been working on alot of ideas in my head, and I really liked this one.

It's rough, as there is very little detail in it, more of just an idea, but here goes:

Basically, I want to kind of make a game where the story centers around two people, who have never met, and how they are both basically transported to this odd world thats different from their's.

Thats basically the basic setup of a plot. But, essentially, it will focus alot on character development, as I want that to be the meat of the story really, the mystery as to why they are where they are and how they got there is almost like a background story. I want to try to include alot of emotion, and get deep into how individual people's minds work really. Like, why each of these two characters thinks the way they do, and has the morals they have, based on their own lives.

Moving on, one other thing I would like to add is that I really want to focus also on the exploration factor of the game. Personally, I love nature, and just walking around seeing natural things. I want to try and put alot of history into this world without actually coming right out and saying things about it. It'll be more of a mystery that the player would decide upon on their own, kind of like walking up to an abandon house in the middle of the woods. You don't know why it's there, or why its abandon, and more than often you'll never find out, yet the fact that you've seen it will have your mind guessing at all the possible things that could've happened it's inhabitants.

Anyways yeah, just an idea. For now.

It sounds like a cool, new experience. If you can deal with the limited number of event models that RM3 offers, its Field Editor should be a very nice tool for creating this kind of world. Have you thought about the two characters and their personalities yet?

No, not really, though I know they will be two opposites. Yet, at the same time they will eventually over time discover much more in common with themselves (hence the theme about how I think that every human being has something in common, we're not all completely, 100% different) and then they will eventually be forced to overcome those differences and focus on the things they have in common, in order to survive and find out whats going on exactly. Eventually, I would like them to form a strong bond.

I want that to represent how people should be towards other people. Not focusing on the differences you might have with someone, ranging from everything including race to personality to favorite band, but rather, finding out what possible bonds you two might share.

This idea intrigues me. Keep us up to date with any new news or ideas you have for this project. It sounds promising.

Alright. I have two rough sketches of the characters. There's Anthony, who grew up poor and with terrible luck all through his life. He dislikes society, and blames all his troubles on it.

Then there is Leslie. She grew up in a rich family, and has had everything handed to her without any work. Through this, she has gained a disliking towards anything that isn't upper class. She's snotty and stuck up, and believes, in a sense, that the world revolves around her.

I also wrote out kind of a rough draft of how I want the prologue to be.

But anyways, I want the game to essentially only give out that minimal amount of information in the beginning, and the characters will be fleshed out more throughout the story.

Other things too, I plan on having random battles, though they aren't going to be a focus, therefore there won't be as many as the average RPG. Cause, as I've said, I want to focus on the story and exploration. Though there will be leveling up, boss battles, and so on. I want to plan it out so basically you won't have to go out of your way to reach that next level to beat a boss.

And, one more thing, I'm straying away from typical RPG storylines here. Therefore, I have no plan of these two characters getting caught up in a huge struggle against evil to save this world they're trapped in.

Okay, at a quick glance I can't help but be horribly reminded of FF10, but w/o the huge evil being that isn't really all that bad after you kill it.

If you do a REALLY great job with the character storylines this COULD be a promising idea... I'm not saying to spill all the beans here by any means, but since you want a story-based RPG omiting a "final boss" you've got your work cut out for you. I wish you the best of luck!

Hey fellas, Not to be a douchet or anything but this sounds alot like the arc the lad series. Being able to do it within the constraints of rpgm3 though is a feat I would want to see. Good luck with the story bro.

Yeah, it is very remeniscant of many different RPGs that are out there, but it CAN be done with RM3. Being that its not about "Peep my new Custom Battle System" or "Look at how many people I have standing around" its well within the limits of RM3. Not to say its going to happen, but it is possible none the less...
