I also did a College Comp. paper on Shadow of The Colossus. It wasn't too long ago and I actually posted it here. Looking at it now I could've done a better job what the hell I got to write about a game and get credit for it.
I used RPG Maker as my visual aid for an American History assignment, in which I created a really stupid video about speakeasies. That got us a 100% for interesting and never-before-seen visual aid.

I once talked to this kid at a party about how amazing the storyline in Silent Hill 2 is, and explained to him the theory of post-modernism in videogames (a la MGS2). So I know where you're coming from Magus.
I also used to play "Final Fantasy" as a kid. Well, we didn't call it that. We just pretended to fight imaginary monsters and heal each other and lame stuff like that. We all had weapons made of k-nex, old engrish names for each other and special abilities to boot. Wow. So we were kind of like marcman's fat little brother, if only for a week.
We played Mega Man and Sonic the Hedgehog. And sometimes Super Mario.
We were gay.
But man, college was all about postmodernism and ****. I had a class that was basically The Ghost in the Shell and Metal Gear Solid 2 And How They Apply To Your Everyday Life Class.
I also showed the Colonel/Rose conversation on YouTube to a (different) class. I don't think they cared for it much.
my 10th grade final book report (which was a presentation in front of the class) was on Resident Evil 2 (not the book adaptation).
I brought in a toy of one of the plant enemies as a visual aid. I referred to him as alfred, the hero of the story. we were also supposed to bring in the actual book and read an excerpt from it, and that went great. I brought in the manual for the game, and told people how to control claire and leon.
I cannot remember what the actual report contained any more. and for a very good reason.
When I turned in my paper, the teacher announced that not a single line of what I read off the paper to the class was actually written down on the paper, and that the paper contained an entirely different report about resident evil 2. the class all looked at me with very wonderful confused looks on their faces.
I failed.
which was fine because the previous week I decided that I was gonna drop out anyways. finals week was awesome

I think I wrote my college application essay about SH2 to Boston University.
When I was 8 I told my sunday school instructor that Doom was a christian game because you killed demons from Hell.
In 6th grade I used Earthbound as an example of modern stereotypes against Americans during a social studies assignment. Somehow I got 98% which was freakin' sweet.
shamefully i have yet to introduce a piece of gaming literature into any school report. i did think about it many times, even thought about making an rpg maker game for a history project yet the logistics where more work then i was prepared to do.
Thank you Ωbright for the sig fix!

I wrote a report or something about Shining Force when I was in 3rd grade. My teacher (who wanted to make my life miserable) thought this was terribly stupid and obscure, so she reads it in a mocking tone to the whole class, and then asked if they knew what the hell I was talking about. Then she told me it was terrible.
I have never brought up videogames in my academics ever again.
