    Console vs Computer Makers

Which do you prefer and why?

Being that this is the console official site, I'm guessing that most people here prefer console RPG Makers. I for one, prefer console RPGMs. I think it's because I see the amazing things that can be done on the PC makers and realize how much of a noob I am, so I just stick with the more limiting software so I can utilize it's potential to a fuller extent than I would be capable of if I worked on a PC maker. This is also the reason why I avoid RPGM2, because I don't know a thing about actual computer programming, and scripts scare me.

What about you? Do you think that us console users in general are intimidated by the bigger broader world of comp. programming?

It might not be that they're intimidated, but more that they used a console maker first. Like me.

Such is the reason why I avoid the PC RPG Makers, but I would gladly use 2 if I had it, because not only is it cheaper, but it's also nice to have it on your t.v.

I can program computers and I still prefer the console makers, for the simple fact they are simple to use and you dont have to build everything from the ground up.

Do you make your own scripts in RPGM2? Which console maker is your favorite?

Cast my vote in the "Neither console nor PC RPGMs have reached their full potential in being great game making software yet. It will be a few years before the bimbos at Enterbrain and Agetec can combine all the best elements of the best of the RPGMs to create a product that'll make the series the pop culture phenomenom it deserves to be" column.

RPGM 1 is my favorite, but I prefer 3 over 1 because you can use a keyboard, I have very little experience with 2 for the fact that I dont like the graphics and have no desire to play it because of said dislike.

With that said, the only reason I bought two was to complete my collection.

I would choose PC if I ever get around to getting my computer fixed and buying XP.

I think I would focus on game making more, and have less delay in getting the info I need for new parts of the game if I just accessed it from my computer.

Though playing the game itself would feel better on the console.

As a total newb to making games (fate hates me; I've been trying to do this for about two years now, but something always prevents me. This time I will not be stopped. Nothing can stop me! They laughed at me when I said I was going to make a video game. Laughed! Well I'll show them. I'll show them all! I'll make the greatest game of all time and use it to CONQUER THE WORLD!!! AHAHAHAHAHAHAhahahahahahahaha...heh......Sorry), I prefer the console makers because they're easier and faster, albeit more limiting. Someday I'll probably "graduate" to computer makers, or just to Adobe Flash.

I use RPGM3 exclusively. To me, it's the easiest to use, and allows me to do a lot with the code without having to focus on the graphics, which is my weakpoint in game-making.

One of the things that is so challenging about being an RPG maker, is that most of the time you have to do everything yourself. In professional games, each person gets to focus on what they do best, but when you make your own game you have to work in all areas, some of which may not be your forte.

Unless you get a partner to help you make your game. Then it's not so bad.

                          Re: Console vs Computer Makers

Id rather work alone, partners do nothing but provide their useless input and slows things down rather then speed things up.

Plus, its pointless to have a partner since you can't both work on the game at the same time, it'll take just as much time, more then likely longer, to produce a game with a partner then if you had just done it by yourself.

                            Re: Console vs Computer Makers

I tend to burn out after every two hours or so, and then I take a break, so logically, if I had a partner to keep working on it during my break, taking hour-long shifts, it would go faster. It is annoying that you can't both be working on it at the same time, though...

Not everyone can find someone who will be dedicated to working on the project with you.
