GameStop(and pretty much everyone else) is hyping the bugger out of it.
It's funny because Rockstar is probably the least pretentious of the MAJOR video game developers and they go out of their way NOT to hype their games. There aren't even any legitimate gameplay videos of GTA4 and everything is basically a movie trailer. The only gameplay information we have is stuff that got leaked or picked up.
I've read one preview for the game and that was a year ago. When this game comes out next week I'll be completely surprised by how it plays. I can't say the same thing for a game made by EA or Lionhead Studios.
I'll take the safe bet and say "more than it deserves".
If a game is good it deserves every sale it gets. GTAIII's engine was recycled to death and aged terribly but GTAIV actually looks like the developers decided to give a crap about future titles when they built it.
I am defintally not going to get it on the day it comes out. I learn from the last game not to do that ever again.
Had to wait an hour in a line to get the stupid thing. With a bunch of $@#@s. And seeing kids way too young, getting the game without as much as a glance.
