    ****

I ****ing hate eBay. So much. I've been *****ing a lot lately about how much I hate it and now I really really hate it.

    Here's the deal:

Last game I bought on there Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver was a fake. I am traying to contact the buyer and eBay and it's a big annoying stupid ****ing hassle. No luck so far.

And the PSP system I once owned (phat) and sold a while back. Well, turns out the person who bought it did ss under unauthorized funds and is no longer even a member of eBay. So they filed a chargeback. Being the smart person I am I shipping the item first class with signature confirmation and everything. Here's the thing: they're ****ing me over sideways on a technicality. I sent the item to a different address than the one that's specified in the buyers address (who surprise surprise isn't even a registered user anymore) because he contacted me asking me to ship it to a different address than the one he specified. It was still signed for though. BY THE SAME PERSON WHOSE ADDRESS THAT'S LISTED FOR THAT BUYER ID AND THE ORIGINAL ADDRESS OF THAT ACCOUNT.

    What the ****!??

I don't even know what to say to them. I'm so fueled with hate right now. I want to compose myself before I call them or write them back. No way in HELL that I'm going to be out a PSP System and $140.

    ****.

    Re: ****

call them directly and sort it out, chargebacks suck. their policies blow, but you got a signature so that has to be better then a dozen other people out there. dont let them **** you on a technicality, but check through their policy and quote them exactly. there is always scamers out there but the seller is suppose to be protected, with all the fancy safety nets and stuff. fight them to death and accept nothing less then your money.

if you lose, not only will you be out the money for the products, but you will be charged a 20 dollar fee for accepting a charge back. i was furious when it happened to me, but thankfully i knew the person who was fingering me and got some friends to force my money back.

fake products are also covered but as all companies, no one wants to accept liability and will weazle out of it anyway they can. its just like insurance, which is why i dont buy any.

if ebay gives you a huge finger, you can also file for small claims court for the psp since you have a signature, an address, and a name to go by.

Except that filing something with small claims court would be difficult if not impossible, and would cost money for the claim, court costs, etc. You'd probably end up spending more trying to get your money back, and if you're unsuccessful...

In regards to the thing you purchased: File a report (item significantly different than description, I think) with ebay, provide all the details without getting irate, and/or get your money back through paypal.

In regards to the thing you sold: NEVER send an expensive item like that to someone's paypal address unless it's confirmed. This is what can happen. File a report with ebay, file with paypal, and see what happens. You were right to get the documentation, but paypal will usually not help you unless you sent it to their confirmed address.

Sometimes I will refuse to take payments from buyers with unconfirmed paypal addresses. You have a right to do that, and can put terms like that in your auctions.

      Live and learn.

I'm really sorry those customers screwed you over, Toaster. I hope real justice is served quickly.

...and I just won Mega Man 7 on there last night. I'm praying I don't get hustled, either.

I've been buying and selling on ebay for about 8 years. It's not a scary horrible place where people are only out to rip you off, but it's also not a happy wonderland filled with nice people. So it's kinda like dealing with the real world.
Be careful, be aware of your rights, and above all don't be stupid. Paypal even gives you a warning about confirmed addresses whenever you receive money for goods. It says something to the effect of "you must ship to this person's confirmed address" or "this person does not have a confirmed address and therefore this transaction isn't covered by our policies."

I'm going to call them later on today and have it out with them.

What really gets me is that the item was in fact signed for by the very same person who is in question.

This is just a pain in the ass and I hate everyone and everything.

With half.com you deal with them directly. Paypal is an non-entity in the matter and there is no such thing as a confirmed address. Someone buys your item and you get an e-mail telling you you sold it along with the address that the buyer provides the website with.

I'm sorry, I thought you were talking about regular old ebay and not half.com... because this is the first time you've mentioned it. :P

                  I have used half.com twice.

Once I bought a Castlevania Circle of the Moon for GBA and received some stupid Ninja Turtles game instead. Never heard from the seller.

The second time I bought a VHS tape that literally had no tape inside the case. It was just the shell of a VHS.

So, yeah. **** half.com for all time.

                  Never again.

used game stores are not looking so bad these days. if i could find all the old games i wanted then id even pay them a premium to deal with a trusted entity. ebay and all things like it is just a big risk fest, its not safe for anyone.

that said, i hope i dont get fingered on my lunar purchase. the check clears today and will probably get shipped tomorrow - providing the seller isnt evil. i usually dont deal with people who have less then 50 rated (this guy was a first time seller but had 10 points and an old account), but the deal was what i was looking for and seemed legit.

only advice i can give is read read read read before you buy anything and know exactly whats in the fine print. ebays policy is the essence of moshambo.

                      Re: ****

I bought some Farscape DVDs that had to have been stolen off eBay. I know because they arrived in the shrinkwrap from a store with a price sticker that was $20 above what I paid for them.
