    Dark Sector

I've been really enjoying it. The story is kinda meh, but the glaive itself is pretty fun. I'm using that more than the guns you can find, except at parts where you really need it (rocket launcher against a helicopter, ect.). You can buy new weapons and upgrade them with parts you find throughout the game.

The reviews comparing it to Gears of War make sense, you do get that feeling from the gameplay and look of the levels. It even has it when you hang onto a wall, you can press left or right then A to dash and find cover on the nearest wall (though it doesn't make you stick to it for long) and pressing up then A makes you dash around around the corner.

And like Army of Two, this game also included the option of jumping over objects first. No one is jumping like rabbits.

There's only two online modes. Epidemic has two teams, where 1 member from each is chosen at random to play as the main character, Hayden, which as the team leader. Basically he's the most powerful character to play as online while everyone else is the random enemy from single player mode. You get points for killing people, but the main focus is to kill that team's leader.

The other mode is Infection. This one's my favorite, because the dark theme, levels, the screams as someone dies, just fit really well. It's kinda spooky, actually. Basically at the start of the match, one guy is chosen at random to play as the fully infected Hayden (all of his skills are unlocked). Your throwing the glaive can kill a guy instantly, any guns you pick up do more damage than everyone else's, you can go invisible, spawn a temporary shield against bullets, and i'm not sure if there's anything else he has. But it's 1 man (the infected) against everyone. So everyone not infected is supposed to work together as a team to take down the infected, but it's the guy who gets an actual kill that receives the most points. Whoever kills the infected becomes infected the next round.

And the dude who plays as Lex Luthor in Smallville does the voice of Hayden.

Is it worth buying? I got in my income taxes and am looking for something new to play.

What, the two online modes are basically gladiator/juggernaut variants? GEH.

I didn't like the game too much, but playing with the glaive is fun. I think the charging mechanic is terrible though.

I want it, but I only want to pay $40 or so for it... There should be an Amazon deal on this on Monday.

I've rented the game and made it to chapter 4. All I have to say so far is that damn this game is a blatant rip off of Gears of War.

Not that is really a bad thing, considering that Gears is easily one of the best shooters ever. I'm having alot of fun with it so far.

But the story is very lacking, even more than Gears, at least Gears tends to make sense, I don't get this game at all. But whatever its fun to play.

              Re: Dark Sector

Meh, I don't mean to be a **** to anyone that likes this, but I beat it earlier and found it to be garbage.

After a while I just started using the shotgun exclusively, seeing that the glaive takes far too long too use, and the enemies are usually either too close, or too far for it to work. And the cover mechanic is good for nothing half the time, since it seems that enemies still kill me while I'm behind cover, and the music and sound is completely uninteresting. I actually played through the game with custom soundtracks which I never do on my first playthrough with games. And story is basically a joke, about halfway through the game I just skipped the cutscenes, even the ending. Absolutely everything about this game aside from the visuals are completely half assed and ripped off.

I'm serious, most of the game looks like it was taken straight from Gears of War, sometimes so much so its damn right embarrasing. And the game also plays like a poor mans Gears of War, with imprecise character movement and not to mention extremely lazy enemy AI.

I just started this yesterday, but it seems pretty fun to me. I'm only using the glaive for now, and can't see myself using much else, because that turns the game into just another boring shooter. I like it so far though.

At certain points, you'll need to buy/upgrade your weapons for some fights. The glaive for a couple of enemies just won't do.
