    Hello Proactive.

Okay, so it's no surprise that people have told me about my acne. I understand it's a pretty big problem, and I have exhausted all methods save a dermatologist. So, I finally ponied up the dough and got a two-month supply of it, and have been using it about once a day for the past four days or so. I have also been taking a photo each day to document it. Luckily it has a sixty-day guarantee , or monies back sort of thing.

Anyone else use this and have good/bad results?

    Re: Hello Proactive.

I've been thinking about buying this. I have pretty good skin but I have the occasional breakout, would like to reduce the size of my pores and I'd like to use it as a prevention tool.

I heard pretty good things about it. Good luck with it and let us know how it works

I tried Proactiv. Didn't help much and it was too expensive for the size bottles you get. Like Alzar said it's the same ingredients as all the other acne treatments. Just go to a drugstore and find a good value on a cleanser with salicylic acid and a lotion/gel with benzoyl peroxide and a moisturizer. Cause that's what's in Proactiv and all the knockoffs.

I've heard good and bad about Proactiv(Jessica Simpson does celeb testimonials for it, right?).

if it works for you, keep on using it. I think you look beautiful as you were though, your face had CHARACTER!

Yeah, Jessica Simpson, Jennifer Love Hewitt, and some rapper I can't remember the name of. I wanna say Jay-Z, but that is the guy with the band-aid.

Yeah. I was too busy dealing with ALBINISM, BLINDNESS, being bullied as a black sheep and all that. I'm so inconsiderate. Please forgive me.

(I just want you to know that I was being sincere, libby. People look different for many reasons, but I believe one should concentrate more on what makes them stand out as a person, positively. Good luck. )

It's a waste of time. And moreover, money.

I'd seriously recommend the regimen they have up on www.acne.org. I had moderately bad acne late last year, but I came across this site and decided to go out on a limb and try benzoyl peroxide 2.5% out in the exact routine they talk about, and it helped immensely.

I do a routine based on the steps listed on that website.
Funny thing is, I've been doing this for years and learned on my own.
So, I can second that the regimen listed in that link works.

Thats not really what I was getting at. Bad acne can be physically painfull. Your face becomes tender. I never had that bad of acne, and it still would/does hurt when I got/get a break out.

I was not aware of your life experiences, and thus not in a position to judge or criticise those experiences, so I didn't.

Umm, I'm surprised I know this, but it was Sean "P Diddy" combs who was pushing it, and the band aid guy was Nelly.

                          Re: Hello Proactive.

Thanks for all the support. I actually have been trying it for the past few days and it seems to be working. I have tried the acne regiem before very briefly, but the biggest problem with it is time and responsibility. Neither of which I am very good at managing. But, as I said, if it doesn't work within the next two months, I will get a refund.

I tried the knock-offs, and although they removed some of the acne, it didn't take away the redness, and it just came back even worse. I know that the redness isn't rosatia(sp?), I was checked for that.

The other over-the-counter acne products have also always given me horrible dry skin and have damaged parts of my face (scarring). Plus, once I use one of the lesser products for an extended period of time, my body starts to reject it. So, if it works, it will be worth the cost, if it doesn't, I'll prolly have to get a dermatologist.

As for looking beautiful, thank you for the compliment, but there are many things that photographs can hide. It's not really about the fact that I feel unattractive, it's a mental thing. I was tormented in high school for being "unattractive" (which it wasn't the case, I just had no self-esteem) and my acne was one of the causing factors of that. It's just a huge reminder that I am not growing up, and it tends to make me feel like I did in high school, young and unwanted.

So, as I said, I'll see what I can do and prolly post the progression images when I start seeing a change.

On another note- At my local mall, they actually have a Kiosk that does teeth whitening for 100 bucks. It's insane.

you should probably go to a dermatologist anyway.

                              Re: Hello Proactive.

If you haven't already, I would do some research on the different common treatments for acne. Even a site like Wikipedia can probably provide a wealth of information for something like this.

As you're probably aware, acne is caused by multiple factors which may include genetics, excess sebum (oil) production in the pores, excess dryness, chemical or mechanical irritation of the skin, hormones, stress or high activity of the suprarenal glands, excess dead skin, certain medications, use of amphetamines [or drugs with similar mechanisms], bacteria in the pores, poor hygiene, diet, or vitamin A and/or E deficiency.

The Proativ regimen provides a peroxide to kill bacteria and reduce oil, an astringent to shrink pores, and a moisturizer to relieve dryness. So just keep in mind that A. this doesn't cover every possible catalyst of acne and B. you may be able to purchase these items separately for less cost than the Proactiv. There are even herbal/phytotherapic/natural options that may be more gentle for the skin--because sometimes the use of chemicals to fight acne can actually cause outbreaks--such as orange blossom flower water or using witchhazel as an astringent. The redness might be a reaction to the chemicals causing irritation to your sensitive skin.

However, if Proactiv works for you, then congratulations and such.
