Doesn't it seem like Nintendo always takes the charts by storm whenever a new Legend Of Zelda, or Super Smash Bros., or Pokemon game is thrown into the market? And it seems that way with Microsoft and Halo/Call Of Duty, but with Sony, I don't really see much BEST SELLERS, besides possible ones like Guitar Hero and maybe the Madden series, but it seems to me like with Sony, there's more of a balance of games, if sometimes lack-lustre, that go on the market. Seriously, what do you guys think about how sales in video games change?

As long as the new one is good the next will be popular.

Re: It's a testament...
I guess so. Playstation always seemed to have a better lineup of RPGs, Rhythm Games, Simulations, and to a lesser extent Adventure and Fighting games. It also had its oddballs like Katamari that everyone loved. The fact that there was always something for everyone--and not just something but quite a lot--definitely helped it sell the most games in the last generation, even if most of its chart-toppers were cross-platformers.
Now, even niche games like Katamari and the Tales Series seem to be diversifying their platform mix, so we'll see if Sony can keep up their advantage.

Re: It's a testament...
That 360 port will never happen. Kojima complained about lack of space on blu ray and having to cut the resolution of textures because of it. you really think he'd downgrade everything to fit on a single DVD, or hack up the game and make it 10 discs that you have to swap back and forth every time you change areas?Yeah, but whats after that? Re: It's a testament...
The 360 is going to get much higher numbers on the 3rd party blockbusters because they have so many more out there (see GTA4, COD4)...MGS will definitely be big, but I have high hopes that Little Big Planet will also be a breakout hit for Sony.
BTW, when the hell are we supposed to see the next Final Fantasy?Last edited by Kire; 04-08-2008, 05:59 PM.
