Monster Hunter Freedom 2 help!

Ok, So i've had this game a while and got pretty far, I think, but my bro told me he sold it (he was lying though) so i dumbly deleted the save files. I have nothing now and im trying to decide what weapon to choose, I did good with the Heavy Bowgun, but Longswords look like a good weapon to choose. Im torn though all the weapons have good aspects, what should I choose?

If you go to the training grounds theres training missions for each type of weapon. You can go there and try them all out for free to find which one you like!

I personally like hammers and long swords best.

That's one of the best things about Monster Hunter. It's not about having the best weapon. Since each one plays differently it's about finding which ones suit you.

the last time i played this (jan., feb.), i had just made the sakura recorder, which is a hunting horn. i wasnt very good with HH though.

wyvern blade holly, wyvern blade maple/blood, smolder dragonsword, true devil slicer & dragonwood longsword (the armor i would wear alongside this one was Genprey S [easy to make] because it upped the strength of abnormal staus and the dragonwood series has Stun). those are the LS i used most frequently. Longswords are not only really fun to use but a great choice overall, but it's weird to hear people say they are Exclusive weapon users to it (or any other weapon for that matter). each weapon has its advantages to certain monsters or situations, so i would find what you like best, like Chu¢k says. but i guess if you prefer a weapon type and that's all you want to use, go for it.

i preferred using GunLances against the Blos family. Greatswords are still really fun to use and is a good balance of offense and defense, because at least you can still block with it, unlike the Longsword. one of my favorite abilities is ESP, where your attacks won't deflect or bounce off anymore (really good against Basarios too). i like GS against Rathalos because its fun to lvl.3 charge his face as he lands from shooting fireballs.

go long sword thats what ive done and love it and have all solo quests done and all 1-5 star quest too lot of funn

I can't use gunlances worth crap. I usually just use my longsword. I can use regular lances just fine, but for whatever reason Gunlances don't seem to suit me too much.
