Site News
The new Pavilion Graphic set is up now. Don't like it? You can use the old, brighter scheme still. We're going to be tweaking this (adding custom buttons, rather than using the Vbulletin defaults) all week to get it exactly how we want it. Also, the rest of the menu links should all be functional this week as well. next month we'll have another upgrade, this time dealing with the user interface.
Insanity Contest is done. We got far more entries than we ever imagined. Thats right people, we have ONE entry, by Vonwert. Does he win by default? Nope! We still have to play his entry and judge it. Believe it or not, its possible to lose even now, if the entry doesnt doesnt feature "we built this city on rock and roll" enough.
RPG Maker 3 News
According to RPGfan's interview with David Silviera of Agetec, the PS2 hard drive will be used to download updates and new content for RPG Maker 3. But its entirely possible they confused being able to download games via sites like the pavilion as updates.
EDIT: and yup, they got it wrong! no such feature exists.
Also, forum member Intro1 has posted a "review" based on what he saw at E3. His incredibly detailed post as a ton of new info. Check it out here! (http://www.pavilionboards.com/forum/showthread.php?t=1692) Thanks for sharing, Intro1!

Hmmm... this might be reason enough for me to hook up my network adapter, and buy a HDD. I'll first play RPGM3 to see If I'll stick with it first.

This is pretty big news. if people demand more modern character models and buildings they will probably get them. maybe RPG Maker 2's soundtrack could be downloadable too? even though its known as a very simple and limited RPG Maker this feature could make it the end-all perfect RPG Maker if its supported properly. I dont think this is even talked about on the enterbrain site, so this could be a new feature agetec added. sure would explain the special addition marking on the package.
That's absolutely phenomenal! Kudos!
I'm scrambling to finish my submission. I don't know if I'll make it in time... where in the timeline are you, again?

Darn. Harddrive? I think my Ps2 came with one...but I don't think it's hooked up. And my dad wouldn't let me go online with my Ps2...I suppose if I like RPGM3 enough, i'll have to look into it. If. x.x

This is amazing, yet saddening as well. With the death of this generation of consoles so close, and only one phenomenal reason for me to go online or have a hard drive, I'm pretty torn. But I'm sure I'll end up doing it, regardless.

This is awesome. I'm going to start asking for computers, automobiles, modern skyscrapers, TVs, gangsters, and that kind of stuff. Modern objects, buildings, and characters for RPGM3 would be really awesome. Makes me wonder if you'll need those models on the hardrive to play other peoples' games if they use them.

This is great news :)
I can't wait! I got my harddrive when it first came out :)

Not sure why I don't have an edit button, but anywhoo.
I think the custom stuff will be saved along with the rest of your data on the memory card.

no one has an edit button in main forum (except staff).
Aigh!! I can't get the effect I was looking for right. Furthermore, I can't access my PS2 at the moment.
I can't make it...
BUT!
I will do something else once I gain access to my system again.

Still no word on how to go about sharing games though; do you think a game made with updates can still be played on a PS2 without them?
And will you be able to install RM3 entirely to the harddrive, or will you still need the disc in to play? If so, I might be able to squeeze a fraction more use out of that clunky launch PS2 if I can get it to read the disc atleast once.

I have a PStwo so I can't use a HDD. I'm gonna feel like a second-class citizen missing out on the downloadable content. :( I hope I'll at least be able to play the games that use them.

All of a sudden I'm feeling really sorry for anybody with a slim PS2.

OMG! This is a feature I begged when RPGM3 was on the planning stages. Finally a use for my hdd aside from FFXI. I'm so excited! I already have the hdd and network adapter! hahahahahaha yes yes! I will be able to fully experience the full power of RPGM3! *evil laugh*

If you want to go slaughter villagers with your broad sword of Doom, go play Morrowind or something.
Anyway, Intro mentioned it not being possible to view weapons outside of battle so; I doubt you could program around it, but it’s worth a shot.

Im gonna have to trade my slim PS2 for my sister's older one.. So I can use her Hard Drive :)

Nah, you don't really need an HDD unless you really really don't want to deal with the extra few seconds of load times.
Necromancy
06-23-2005, 12:05 PM
And I, personally, can stand a few extra seconds of load time. Gives me that much longer to think out my game...
Crimson Knight

One of the things I liked about RPG Maker 2 was that you only had 1 second of load time for most things, and up to 3 second if your map is cluttered. I know how long the times are for #3 and how frequently they occur, and I hate it personally.
