    Sins of a Solar Empire

    The best game ever.

It's a 4X RTS - think civilizations with warcraft, or more accurately Masters of Orion with Starcraft, since it is in space. Quite honestly, I think Starcraft II will not be the RTS GotY. This game is simply amazing.

    AND, it's only 40 bucks.

Anyone else have it? If so, we should play. My player name is [VZ]hitogoroshi.

I think I saw that game at Best Buy. I took it off the shelf, looked at the back and inside of the flip-cover, and put it back on the shelf.

I don't know, Starcraft has quite a fan base.

Well, yeah, but in terms of sheer selling power, SC2's gonna be the one to top the charts, at least in the first few months or so.

I dunno, there's a lot of shooter games that have been hyped as the next Halo (Area 51). Look where they ended up.

Prove me wrong. Describe this... "Sins of a Solar Empire" to me.

I do not think I have the time for this game.

I was totally interested in this game, especially seeing that Penny Arcade was wetting themselves over it. Unfortunately, I was turned off of it after reading the reviews that mention an almost complete and total lack of story mode. So, yeah, no thanks.

I am coming for all of you!

While I agree that Sins might be better than SC2, Dusk Raven is right. I think HL2 is a far superior shooter to Halo 2, but Halo 2 was voted game of the year over Half-Life 2 (after it lost to HL2 for best shooter of the year, figure that out!).

              Then again, it is StarCraft...

I haven't played Sins yet, but plan to get it... eventually. I have to say it looks totally awesome. Better than GalCiv2 even.

                Wow, SC2 already came out?

No, I don't remember whether or not the release date has even been revealed. Not that it matters, WarCraft III had five release dates.

Yeah, Sins might get game of the year considering SC2 won't be out until next year at least.

                      There's a demo:

Play the demo before spouting out useless opinions about something you haven't played.

If I do, will you stop spouting useless derogatory remarks towards me?

Alzar was talking about your opinions, not you, and to be fair the opinons were pretty useless. xP

Also, get the Gamespot Download Manager for that demo or it'll be slow as hell. Feel free to delete it when you're done though.

Sins could easily get RTS of the year, even if SC2 comes out this year.

Its a fantastic game, and only has one real drawback, and that is the lack of a single player campaign, and that will be remedied soon. I dont remember if it is a full expansion or a game update, that is going to add a full fledged story mode, and is supposed to be released this year.

Re: Sins of a Solar Empire

It's a different kind of 4x game and not one that I wholly appreciate. I applaud the developers for trying something vastly different from the norm but 4X appeals to a small audience because it's based around micromanaging a huge empire and watching it grow. When you try to combine the size and depth of 4X games with a standard RTS build-an-army-then-rush game, it ruins the feel of both genres. The games last way too long for a standard RTS but they don't have the depth of a 4X game.

I still think it's fun and a neat little experiment but ironically they alienated most of the fans they were trying to gather.
