I rarely go to the doctor, and I have crappy temp health insurance.

I was feeling lousy for a week so I decided to go to a clinic. I had an infection and they prescribed me some antibiotics that cost 3 bucks. The medicine gave me an allergic reaction and left me bedridden for 3 days. I returned to the doctor because of that. They said the infection was gone.

I received my doctor bill for those two visits. The price was over $900. So far my insurance has not paid any. It's not like I had an MRI or CT Scan or anything. I had two visits, a blood test, and a pee test.

What in the bloody goddamn hell kind of stupid **** country do we live in where going to the doctor for two 15 minute visits costs 3 months worth of food?

That's the downside of our great country America, being the land of opportunity and great wealth. The money has to come from somewhere.

I do agree about the situation, though. It's really stupid, I don't even think you had an infection in the first place.

I hear other countries have good, FREE(or relatively inexpensive) health care, among other things our great country refuses to do.

If I get sick, I walk into a clinic, flash my health care card, see the doctor, get a prescription, and leave. So far, FREE

I go to a pharmacy, and if I have no other coverage provided by work or an outside firm, I pay for the pills. If I have covereage at a place like Home Depot, I flash another card and it is free.

Certain other things are free. The heart monitor I wore last year for a week was free. All my tests (stool, blood, and xray) were free. I haven't had any need for much else.

Like I said, the money has to come from somewhere. But at the same time, our system is designed for high profit and "class control" as I'd like to call it. If a lot of taxes can be avoided legally and practically, free health care seems like a more valuable option.

(and you have to wait a while here in the US too, you know.)

I'd make sure they didn't bill you for stuff you didn't have done. What's reallly fun is when you have insurance, get blood work done, and they send it to the wrong lab, so your insurance refuses to pay for it. They assume it's your fault for not telling the doc to send it to the right lab.

I've called and hassled my insurance company about four times already, trying to work this out. I got rid of some of the fees, but the damn lab turned it over to collections already. So I'm going to be paying for something that should've been covered by the money they take out of my paycheck and the co-pay.
