I quit making games last summer due to school and lack of time. Now that im trying to get back into this and need some opinions. Im quite a bit rusty and need a software to make the games with. Would RPG maker 2000, 2003, or even the postality knights version of XP be best to get back into things with? And is there a site i could go to to get the basics at? All help Appreciated!

Re: Back to the Beginning...
Like Duel said, the only PC Rpg Makers supported by this site are RPG Maker XP and RPG Maker VX. All other versions are pirated software and are thus ILLEGAL to download and use.
That being said, the general consensus here is that XP is superior to VX, because it is cheaper and VX's additional features aren't worth the extra money. Personally, I prefer XP's art style aswell.Last edited by Stormy; 04-04-2008, 07:03 PM.stodi no na ka cenba

Re: Back to the Beginning...
by paying, you need to pay the development team that officially released the software, not a pirate who translated the copy and wants to make some extra bling. the only software supported here is the console makers, and legal versions of xp and vx (vx being the newest rpg maker for the pc).

Mmk this helps. If i could change the subject a bit now. Whats your guys' take on the console versions. Im thinking of going out and buying rpg maker 2 for playstation 2 over rpg maker 3. Ive owned 3 before and didnt care for it. It was easy, and fairly fun, but the map creation and layout didnt go over so well. Any thoughts?Life is like a fat free box of chocolates...you never know what kind of crap your gonna get!

I own RPG Maker 1, 2, and 3. I've been using 3 quite a bit, so that's become a bit of a favorite, but with 2 you have lots and lots of cool possibilities for creativity that aren't available in 3.Originally posted by crudicel View PostMmk this helps. It's too bad that you sold 3 because there are some really neat games available for it that others have made. I made the same mistake with 2. I sold it, and later regretted it so I bought another copy. Since then, I've played a variety of other games that people have made with RPG Maker 2, and that alone has made it worth the re-buy.
Anyway, yeah, if you don't like 3, definitely try out 2 (with a mindset that you're going to take some time to familiarize yourself with the software before you take on creating a huge complicated game).Last edited by Pagerron; 04-05-2008, 09:25 AM." Re: Back to the Beginning...
I did enjoy 3 to an extant. It was more or less me being pretty picky about things. I learned the system no problem. But some things just bugged me (like being able to see the whole world when traveling from town to town). Knowing me, ill just end up getting them all so thanks for the input everyone.Life is like a fat free box of chocolates...you never know what kind of crap your gonna get!
