What kind of PS1 memory cards work with RPG Maker? I think I remember having a muti-paged one that didn't work, but I know there are 1Meg cards and some other different types. I've always just used the regular 15 block ones. Is it possible to hold more RPGM data by using a different kind of card? Thanks.

Re: PS1 memory cards
No. Even cards that are more than 15 blocks are divided into 15 block "pages" since the PS1 will only recognize 15 blocks.
and buying anything but the official sony cards is a mistake. every third party memory card has a strong chance of corrupting your files if you save often, as people do with RPG Maker.

Thanks. I've only had bad experiences with 3rd party cards which is why I always use the original ones in the first place. My RPGM project: Fantasia Saga

Re: PS1 memory cards
I don't own a single Sony PS1 memory card.
I have Madcatz, Joytech, two Pro Performance, and none of them have ever failed on me. Even when I was doing all the RPGM1 saving a bunchacruncha.
But I'm SPECIAL when it comes to that, apparently. Although I definitely don't suggest a multi-page memory card. I lost well over 100 hours of data from one of THOSE pieces of ****. Which I think i also still have. Somewhere. In the BOWELS of my miscellany drawer, no doubt."Mindless killing doesn't do a lot for me anymore." - Sampson

Re: PS1 memory cards
Since we're on the subject of losing data. You should probably never transfer your RPGM1 data to a PS2 memory card. That's how I lost my 100+ hour project. I accidently overwrote it when I saved a new project onto the same PS2 memory card. This goes for any PS1 data, not just RPGM.My RPGM project: Fantasia Saga

Ive saved plenty of stuff onto a PS2 memory card from a PS1 card and never had a problem.Originally posted by JANK View PostSince we're on the subject of losing data. Re: PS1 memory cards
I used to do it with my RM1 files all the time, when you wanted to work on it later just copy it back to your PS1 mem card and fire it up.
Worked with my GT2 & 3, Final Fantasy, and quite a few other games.Last edited by JPS; 03-28-2008, 07:46 PM.

Re: PS1 memory cards
Yes you can do this but if you save the same type of file (i.e. the same game) from the same PS1 block to a PS2 memory card it will ask you if you want to overwrite it. This will overwrite whatever data that first used that particular PS1 block even if it's actually a different save (i.e. you started the game over and saved in block 1, but your old data that is archived on your PS2 memory card and deleted from your PS1 card also was also originaly saved in block 1). I've overwritten quite a few saves this way thinking that I would be overwriting the same save, but end up overwriting a different save then I intended to.My RPGM project: Fantasia Saga

Re: PS1 memory cards
I know very well that third party cards are usually crap. However, I have three third party cards made by Interact that I got in a 3 pack that have worked reliably for about 5 or 6 years. So it depends on the company. Cheap-ass fly by night cards should be avoided, like with just about everything else that's electronic.
That's why I intentially use different save slots for my RPGM1 saves, so I don't accidentally overwrite a backup. So my finished Demonslayers game is on slot A I think (it uses letters, right?), my Terrin's Hunt demo was saved to slot B, and my current game is on slot C. Also, if I accidentally overwrite the first two, I can just download them from here. Anyway, that's why I also like to back things up to a DexDrive, just in case.Originally posted by JANK View PostSince we're on the subject of losing data.
