    A TSO Story.

I figured I'd give you all a little story to read.

Back in November of 2007, the Trans Siberian Orchestra came to the Nutter Center. Me, my mom, my dad, my friend, my sister, and her boyfriend were all lucky enough to get front row-esque seats. During the second half of their show, the person who formed the band, Paul O'Neill, was walking down the aisle. He went past my friend and I, and then for some reason (Must have been my curly locks) turned back around and came up to my friend. He signed a program for my friend and gave him a free t-shirt.

He then turned to me and signed a program. That was when I heard him say "Get me a tour jacket," which he in turn gave to me. Then, my mom took the liberty of telling Paul (A very good guitarist himself) that I recently took up the guitar. He asked me if I had an amp and my reply was a feeble "Yes, but it's not very good."

That was when he pulled out the bills. He started counting 20s, stopped at 2, and then went on to 5 and handed them to me. He then looked over at my friend and asked me if he was my brother. I told him he was my best friend. So he pulls out another 5 20s and hands them to him.

Only they weren't 20s. Paul O'Neill, the coolest man I know, handed my friend and I 5 100 dollar bills.

    The end.

He gave someone a signed guitar.

Yes, JPS. Didn't clarify since I typed it up half asleep. Oh yeah, and at the concert that I was at he gave the kid a '59 Les Paul signed by the band. ...Which is the guitar that you were talking 'bout.

And here I thought Trans-Siberian Orchestra was just something people into New Age listened to, unless it was Christmas time, in which case everyone and their brother all of a sudden becomes a huge fan of the group.

Nope. They're very charitable. Each of their concerts gives a percentage of the ticket profits to a local charity.

Oh....so pretty much their big fanbase is well-to-do suburban white people and their privileged offspring. I see now.

Sorry, stoopidguy...I don't mean any disrespect, but I couldn't resist. I've heard a few of their songs, and they are not bad, actually. If you want to hear something similar (well, not similar, really, but for an understanding you can relate to) but edgier, check out some Godspeed You! Black Emperor, especially the song East Hastings.

Okay, Magik...I've embarked on the quest.
