Angel/Armor Types
There are only four angels in most cities and towns, each one of a different "class" and each class performs a certain job. The armor and height of an angel reflects it's class type, and as angels change classes, their armor is changed accordingly. Cities with extremely large populations may have multiple angels of each class, except the overseer class. Class changesdone by genetic alterations that change their armor, as well as their size.
Under their armor, all angels wear a Contact Suit which is a skin-tight black bodysuit (with strategic padding for each gender) that covers every part of the angel's body except for the face. The armor mounts on metallic connectors that are located mostly near joints. these connectors, called "contact points" are what a substance the angels create internally is secreted through, which forms their armor. How exactly the armor grows, or how it manages to form in specific designs and even have coloration is a mystery that most angels don't even know the answer to.
In addition to the connectors on the body suit, the armor links together with elaborate locks attached to a black mesh made of the same material the armor is constructed with. This not only makes sure the Angel is completely protected, but also hides the bodysuit underneath. The mesh is so tightly woven that even if the bodysuit underneath were to be a bright color, like white or yellow, it wouldnt be visible through the mesh.
Every angel personally sets their locks, so that no one can remove their armor without their consent.
Overseers (the type of angel humanity first came in contact with) can do any job that needs to be done, in addition to handing out orders to the other Angels in their area, and deciding the laws and regulations of their area. Overseers are the tallest angels, reaching an average height of 15 feet (it only fluctuates a few inches). Their armor is is mostly made up of the hard white material, and there are no special features or modifications to assist with their job. Their armor is covered in sharp angles, and their anatomy is changed to make the shoulders extend further out from the torso. Overseer faces are not exposed, as the helmet area has expanded to encase their entire head, leaving only slots for air flow and vision in the front. They spend much of their time in the towers, communicating via unknown means with the Overseers of other areas.
The contact suit of an Overseer combines with their skin, and the armor is permanently fused to the contact points that were previously located on the contact suit. Because of these extensive changes, Overseers are not able to change their class.
Arbiters interact with people to solve problems, and relay messages from humans to the other angel types (if the human cannot find the Angel they need), and acquire anything people may need or want, like food, or clothes if they are unable or unwilling to get it themselves. Their armor features mostly rounded edges, with very few protrusions from the basic body shape, as they are intended to look as non-threatening as possible. The average height for an Arbiter is 10 feet tall.
Arbiters are the primary workers of the angel controlled world. Arbiters not located in residential areas are stationed at supply depots, farms, and workstations where they produce clothing, appliances, and anything else humans might need. Arbiters are also tasked with transporting people sentenced to be exiled.
Medics are the smallest of all angel classes, never leaving their birth height of 8 feet, which is to let them easily access anywhere that a human might be. Through genetic alteration, they are given knowledge covering every known human medical problem, and how to remedy it (when possible). Their "armor" is very thin, and doesnt deviate from the Angel's basic body shape very much at all. They carry a wide assortment of tools and medicines with them at all times.
Aside from residential areas, Medics are also found in the same workstations as Arbiters, producing medicine.
Engineers are the second tallest Angel type, measuring 12 feet tall. They cover all construction and repair needs of the area they are in. Their armor is very large and blocky, resembling an exo-suit rather than armor, and features many "standard modifications" that cannot be done through the genetic alteration process. These modifications include shock absorbers at every major joint in the armor, along with locks that can keep any body part in a position without stressing the angel at all. These locks are so strong that if supporting the weight of an Overseer, the Engineer could get out of the armor, and the armor would still support the weight on it's own. If their armor is badly damaged, it has to be completely rebuilt. Engineers have the easiest life of any of the angels, since if there's no construction or repairs that have to be done, they can do whatever they want to all day.
Engineers actually have another layer of armor, which allows them to exit their heavy armor described above, like an exo-suit... as described above. this first layer of armor is almost completely made of the black mesh, with only the chest, feet, and face having the white material.
Angel Anatomy
Angels are human-shaped, with a head, two arms, and two legs. The most obvious differences are:
The eyes are covered by a reflective yellow film that glows much like a cat's eyes.
Their noses lack nostrils, instead having slits along the sides that they use to smell and breathe. These slits can be closed at will.
Skin is white (not caucasian white). does not tan, but sunburns very easily.
Naturally black area around their eyes, which cuts out glare from the sun.
They do not have individual teeth, and their teeth cannot fall out.
They can't sweat as much as humans, which causes problems in high temperature environments.
They do not have any body hair, and only females have hair on their heads. even then, no eyebrows. they do have eyelashes.
Their skin feels just as soft as ours, but much stronger. it would take about 90 lbs of force for a razor to penetrate it.
Small metallic discs (4mm in width) are embedded in their skin, which controls growth/restoration of the armor using nutrients the body gains from food. These discs are located at every spot that the connectors on a contact suit are located, and supplies the nutrients from the body to the armor through these connectors. if armor is removed for an extended period of time, these objects will start to grow new armor. Angels whose diets are lacking in Iron and Calcium can not regrow armor, but will eventually begin to secrete a white liquid from these objects, which is an ingredient in the armor that the body creates naturally.
it is unknown how many of these features are natural, and how many are the result of the angel's rampant genetic engineering.
Armor Modification
Armor modification is popular among young angels, and quite difficult to do. it requires that the armor be broken first, usually with the tools used to make the towers, or the tools used to build the Engineer class armor. The armor is broken past the point where the angel wants it to be at when the modification is finished. it is then allowed to start regenerating and when it reaches the point where they want it to stop, they coat the edge with paint or any other substance that will bind to the armor. it's growth stops when it his an obstruction. Modification can take weeks or months to do, and the end results can range in quality depending on the Angel's skill and patience. Additions to the armor are even harder to do, involving breaking the armor in at least two locations, and then when one location starts to regenerate, the softer regenerating material is scraped off from one location, and added to another regenerating location.
Personal Stations
Every angel type aside from Overseers have personal stations in residential areas that they work at. Medics run clinics. Engineers run workshops where they repair broken equipment, and store their construction materials. Arbiters run what is essentially a general store (although it's contents are free), with private rooms for councelling, and even a jail for when the need arises. Some Angels prefer to live in these stations rather than the towers. Medics are actually required to live in their stations.
