    Survival-Horror Games

Been playing Resident Evil 2 lately, kicks-ass but I'm looking for more.

I've only played Silent Hill 1 and 3. Didn't like 3. There are more Survival-Horror games out there I don't know about. SO POST EM, JERK!

What's up with this Left-4-Dead? Hardly know anything about it.

    ADA, WAIT!

    Take the manhole cover!

    Take the handgun bullets?

    You can't carry anymore items!

Left 4 Dead will be a 4 player co-op zombie shooting FPS.

You skipped the best Silent Hill, play 2. I've heard Fatal Frame is good, especially 2. And the new Alone in the Dark seems like it'll be cool but I don't know how the previous ones are.
I want that Mulan McNugget sauce, Morty!

      Definitely play Silent Hill 2.

... I'm having a real tough time thinking of other games to suggest. The Parasite Eve games aren't really survival horror, and Galerians flat-out stinks. Never tried Fatal Frame. ... What else IS there?!

And yes, Res Evil 2 is often loved around here.

"CLAIRE! Wait! ... Why doesn't anybody ever listen to me?!"

I think Silent Hill 4 is a vastly underrated game in terms of the feeling of unease you have while playing it. It's far and away the creepiest of the four main games, I still get creeped out on subsequent replays, which is more than I can say about the others.

That said, the second half of the game is inexcusable.

The only thing even close to creepy in SH4 was in the apartment. The game was flat out boring and unscary.

Duel, you definitely should look into SH2. While I personally don't find it all that scary, the game is great. Has the best story in the series and Pyramid Head. Now that SH: Origins is on the PS2 I suggest trying that one, as well. Has the most improved combat system in the series.

            Did everyone forget about RE4?

And Eternal Darkness, if you can find it.

              Does Parasite Eve count?

You may avoid Rule of Rose.
Oh my god! You are so beautiful.
I had no idea how beautiful you were.

Fatal Frame is excellent, I recommend any of them.

I want to, I just played it though fully yesterday.

IMO it's a really scary game, in part because some enemies/bosses can kill you in one hit, and those moments such as near the end of the game where you turn a corner and "HOLY **** a spiny bastard!"

I never want to play that game again. It didn't do anything special to scare the crap out of you, it just did.

It means I like RE4. Just roll with it.

Well technically, PE is a survival horror... even though it is mainly an RPG. Regardless, I highly recommend this game. The only problem I have with it is that damned bonus dungeon the chrysler tower. I know it is suppose to be maze like, but why does it use the same four rooms over and over for so many floors?!

As for Rule of Rose, yep avoid it. I love the twistedly clever and dark story, but the gameplay is terrible. When my weapon passes through an enemy I expect it to get hurt. Or if I move far enough from an attack I don't still get hit by it. ****!

I don't really think RE4 is survival horror?

                            Re: Survival-Horror Games

The only survival horror game I've played was Call of Cthulhu: Dark Corners of the Earth. It's the only game in the genre where you actually feel insignificant. You don't even get firearms until the first 1/3 of the game and you're constantly being chased by angry rednecks and monsters that consistently follow you but only show themselves through windows or on rooftops. The main character is also afraid of heights and whenever you look down from a high area the screen gets blurry and it's a real intense experience. Because it's the most realistic of the survival horrors, it's definitely not for everyone (especially the easily frustrated).

If you don't have vista, I recommend ordering Realms of the Haunting. It's not really scary, but damn is it atmospheric and contains an excellent story with real acted cutscenes that don't suck.

On the console side, Obscure was a throwback to the cheesy teen slashers and it was a decent game. Not great, but decent. Siren was also pretty good and lets you view the world through the eyes of the monsters as they come after you which added to the games suspense. I can't recommend Kuon unless you're extremely desperate.

...uh, i guess dead rising sorta counts... if you want a free game, download Survival Crisis Z which is like Resident Evil the RPG.

i don't really think of RE4 as survival horror either. I think Mikami even said so. It's like. Action horror.

RE2 is survival horror. RE4 is something very different.
