Earlier this year (3rd quarter) parent/teacher conferences went on at my high school. We met with my marketing teacher and we talked for about fifteen minutes. About 12 minutes in, she hands me a paper saying that it's 15 points extra credit.
I did the paper and everything. The only problem is that, when I went into her class that day, she had a sub. The sub wouldn't accept the paper and since my teacher explicitly said that if something's placed on her desk, it's lost forever, I was forced to abandon my attempt to get extra credit.
Usually extra credit means points without penalty, right? ...Obviously not. Today I went into progress book (Let's us see our current grade) and saw that there was a paper titled Parent/Student career bridge 0/50. I'll be damned because that was the paper that I never turned in.
I asked her about it and she told me that she never gives out extra credit and that that paper was truly worth 50 points. Hooray. Bye bye straight As.
...So I told my mom about it and she asked me if it was the paper that was supposedly extra credit. She and I both heard my teacher say that the paper was worth 15 extra credit points. Instead, I lose 50 points and manage to plunge into the dark depths of C Land.
...It's not fair.
